What an amazing place to end the trip...... NEW YORK....NEW YORK Lo left me in Mexico with Shel, she had gone home a week before me to suprise her friends for their wedding. So it was just be an Shel in NYC for a week, and what a week it was was! We arrived from the glorious mex sunshine to rain!! It didnt stop for the first few days... while we were doing the tourist things, getting soaked sitting on open-top buses etc! But New York amazed me from the minute I arrived, it is like no other place I have been to. We stayed in an apartment, just off Time Square. We had a lovely view of the city from our window.. the Empire State building. We did all the usual stuff.... coffee, deli's, broadway ... read more

Hello everyone, Not that much to say, as we have been holidaying. We arrived in Mexico and went to Tulum, where we met Monica and Joe from England, who were very lovely. We stayed with them for the whole time we were there and had lots of fun. Tulum is lovely and has the most amazing torquise waters that you could ever see, and very stunning beaches. The people on the beaches were very beach savvy, which Lo and I werent, by any stretch of the imagination. But we soon got used to the beach way of life.. doing nothing but bathe in the sun or the sea! And having sneaky cocktails! We managed to do as little activity as possible.. we did go and see some ruins, but that was only because they were right ... read more

Belize... official language; English... yey. No more ..gracias, por favor, hola, cervesa etc.. When we passed through the border, it was so exciting seeing all the signs in English.. and getting our Belize dollars, they even had old Lizzy on them. We went straight to Belize City and from there took a ferry to Caye Caulker.. one of the many Cayes in Belize.. and it was like paradise. A really chilled out island, with not many tourists, white sands, blue seas.. just beautiful. We spent our time chilling at ends of piers.. swimming, snorkeling.. and eating to local jerk chicken with rice n beans... We went snorkeling around the Caye, and were swimming with loads of Sting Rays, they were really close and was great to see (the guide was feeding them with sardines tho.. ). ... read more

Well, time and countries are whizzing by now, very fast.... We arrived in Antigua by chicken bus/rollercoaster, going at the speed of sound! Only just managing to keep my arms in their sockets after whizzing around corners soooo fast. Gladly arriving in one piece to the beautiful Antigua, with its colonial buildings and very friendly people. We stayed in the 3rd place we went to and the only place that wasnt full, Im not sure if the HOTEL sign should be replaced with PRISON! Because thats what it felt like.. we even had bars at the window....but didnt spend much time inside.. we were out and about enjoying the sights, and the markets!! Just biding our time till we left to chichitcastenango on a chicken bus ... and the famous Sunday market... We needed rest before ... read more

Just a quick visit to El Salvador.. wish it was longer its a beautiful country. And really friendly. We travelled here with Helen & Jenny from England (and Jenny´s sheep, who was sooo cute!), we met them in Roatan. We went straight to the capital city, San Salvador. The country is small so we could do most things from here. We stayed in a lovely guest house, Ximenas and the Norwegian owner knew everything about El Salvador, so we managed to cram lots into our short stay. We went to the devils door.. a fab lookout where you can see virtually across the whole of El Salvador. Then we went to climb an active volcano, where we would have climbed 4 hours and got amazing views. But we were late and although our driver tried to ... read more

Hello Time for a holiday. After months on the road.. without a break!! We were very tired.. so we decided to have 2 weeks in the Caribbean to relax. So we went straight to Roatan in The Bay Islands in Northern Honduras.. they are very beautiful... Just as you imagine a Carribean Island to be. It is an amazing place to dive too..I became totally addicted to it.. everytime I came back from a dive I would sign up for the next.. I am sooo lucky that my first dive in 6 years, what did I see? a shark!! the second dive.. I saw a turtle.. also saw toad fish, eels, lobsters, crabs, and millions of fish.. After a few dives I decided that I an open water diver wasnt enough I wanted to go on ... read more

We arrived in Nicaragua the same time as the rain. We were soaked by the time we crossed the border and got into the taxi to San Juan Del Sur.. we had a lovely taxi driver who told us that the country was safe for us and has no problems.... San Juan, a lovely beach place on the pacific coast, was very lovely. We took time to chill out a little, and eat very cheap lobster, watching the sunset over the pacific. The beach was very deserted with a lots of waves and a few surfers. Next we went to Granada, a very pretty colonial city, old buildings, very hot! We arrived on a proper chicken bus, we thought we would show Gill what its like to backpack.. I think she was thinking it would be ... read more

Hello.. just a quick one, as I am falling very behind with this thing!! We arrived in Costa Rica over a rickety bridge from Panama, and stayed on the Carribean coast in Puerto Viejo A chilled out beachy place.. did a little more relaxing before heading off to San Jose to meet my friend Gill, straight of the plane from England!! San Jose was not that great, just a big city really, but was very excited to be waiting at the airport for Gill!! Although became very apparent that Costa Rica has a different kind of tourist... mainly Texans! Costa Rica is to the US what Spain is to the UK. But still beautiful.. we took a bus up to Monteverdi a cloud forest in the north.. Gills first one.. also the first one I have ... read more

I dont know if youve looked at a map of Central America lately but.... Panama is a really thin country, its so thin that many years ago, it was decided that it would be a good idea to build a huge canal so boats can pass through from each ocean and save 1000s of miles. Anyway we went to see it, Im not that into canals normally, but it was very impressive. We spent a few days in Panama City and looked around a bit, but mainly we were resting in a nice hotel with TV and Air Con! Thought we would splash out and rest for a bit, as we had both were a little ill. Once rested, we went to the carribean again, the archipelago islands of Bocos Del Toro. A beautiful cluster of ... read more
