So I slept in today till about 11 then headed into town for breakfast. While waiting for my food to arrive, I saw Marissa passing on her way to the internet cafe. She sat down to join me. Apparently last night Raul got tanked again and made it back to the room around 5 am again...this time he apparently walked in circles for an hour in the room until he finally crawled into bed...half this time Sandra was in her bed scared of what he might do but didn´t say anything. Marissa told me Sandra is thinking about moving rooms because she gets annoyed when she´s woken up every night by drunk Raul...I told Marissa she could always crawl into bed with me...and that´s when she told me Sandra thinks I´m cute...woo hoo...half the battle has ... read more

Nothing new this morning...same construction and sleep scenario. I headed into town to to check up on the civil strife in the states and low and behold as soon as I sit down, the power goes out all through town...so I guess it´s time for breakfast. I head down the row and find Morritz eating at Tiki Limbo, so I join him. I could only get eggs and toast since there was no pump for the water for tea and no blender for juice...yay. I waited around forever for the check and it never came, so I just dropped 2 bucks and headed to get my massage at the Tibetan massage place. I got a reflexology massage and back massage for an hour for 30 bucks. I also got some information on a Amazonian Shaman in ... read more

I am sick and tired of the overcast drizzly days in Montañita. I hear great things about Mancora, Peru and may be heading down there sometime early next week if my cashola comes in from unemployment. From what travelers are saying, it´s hot and sunny, and BEAUTIFUL...something I was expecting Montañita to be while I was here...but unfortunately it is not a great place to get a tan right now...great for surfing, but not great for looking like I was in South America for a month! I´m getting used to the construction going on and am doing a good job learning to ignore it and keep sleeping. I got up around 1130 and headed to the internet cafe to update last night´s journal as well as to get my fix in Mafia Wars. I headed down ... read more

Since everything was closed the past 4 days, I first woke up to the large danish crowd making some noise around 8 in the kitchen/dining area which lasted about twenty minutes...then woke up again around 1030am from loud construction projects going on in and around the hostel. I hung out in my hammock outside for about 10 minutes to wake up. I saw David and asked him what cabaña I was moving to today. Since I was originally going to move after a week, they already rented the cabaña I was staying in out. He told me I could move upstairs in a few hours to 18. I started to get everything together for the move. I saw Rob awake on his Hammock and Rahul walking around, so the three of us went to breakfast at ... read more

Wow. I really needed a good night´s sleep. I slept until about 1130am then headed out to breakfast. My neighbor was up so I invited him to join me. Rob is from England and is in Montañita for a month studying spanish and working on his surfing skills...the same original idea I had when I booked my trip! (I just need to get back on board the bandwagon). Breakfast consisted of a couple eggs, juice, croissants, and some Tea...the usual. After breakfast I hopped on the internet and played around in Mafia wars on facebook. Braeden found me so I joined him and Raya for a brunch...even though all I had was water to help me get ready for tonight. For the rest of the afternoon, I napped in my hammock until about 7pm. I decided ... read more

So I crawled into bed around 630/7am this morning and ended up waking up at 930/10am and couldn´t get back to sleep!!! I headed to Tiki Limbo for some tea and apple pie which really hit the spot. Afterwards I went back to the hostal to nap in my hammock as much as possible. Around 5pm I met up with Emma and headed into town for dinner. We ran into Steffi and her friend Brennan who joined us. After dinner I headed back for another nap to prepare for another long night...needless to say it didn´t happen because as soon as I laid down, the music started up in town. Around 9pm, Emma came knockin on my door so we headed out. Things were looking good for a hook-up session later tonight (and what´s more perfect ... read more

I woke up this morning around 830am. Since I was up, I might as well try to get on the surf trip up the coast at 10am. I stumbled into town to check if there was still room and nobody was around. I joined Bill and Tom at Tiki Limbo for breakfast, I ended up just having Tea just to get me moving. I popped in to school a few times and finally around 9:50 Isidro was packing up surfboards for the trip. I asked him if there was still room and he said there was...I dropped a dollar at the breakfast table and ran back to my room to change. I made it back to the school a few minutes past 10, loaded my surfboard on the van and headed north with the rest of ... read more

Hola. Well, the loud speaker guy never came by this morning so I was able to finally sleep in until I wanted! I had breakfast again at Tiki Limbo. Decided to go for a fruit, granola, and yogurt breakfast with some pineapple juice and tea. I'm becoming a regular so it's pretty nice. Braeden and I were talking today about the difference between tourists and travelers...tourists are the ones sitting in the expensive restaurants watching and making comments on the travelers who are eating and enjoying the street food. It's amazing to not feel like a tourist, I actually feel like I live here right now - great experience! We had class this morning from 10-12 again and learned some irregular verbs and conjugations of each. Afterwards we grabbed lunch at a new place that just ... read more

Blah is how I feel. After my overconsumption of libations last night, I fell asleep in my bed last night without any water! A serious error I will not make again. I was extremely thirst and hungover this morning with a nice headache and class at 10am! I woke up 7am again by the loud speaker guy. I found out last night everyone who sells fresh goods to the towns sell them by broadcasting their "products" over loud speaker. So I guess this is something I´m going to have to get used to. My alarm finally went off at 9am. I felt like the walking dead while I got up and dressed. I headed into town for breakfast. Forgot my books for class and walked back to the hotel. I headed back into town when it ... read more

What a night. Needless to say I had a little trouble getting to sleep since I didn´t have my trusty fan with me. I had to fall asleep to crickets and dogs barking every once in a while. It finally happened. It was prety warm in the cabaña. I slept with a sheet and a light blanket under my mosquito net and had no problems with bugs...VERY nice! I awoke at 7am from a guy on a load speaker driving by yelling something. I don´t know what it was and I don´t care...why is he yelling in a loud speaker from his car so early in the morning?!?! I went back to sleep and woke up around 9 to finally go do some surfing. I threw on my board shorts and rashy and grabbed my bottle ... read more
