Since everything was closed the past 4 days, I first woke up to the large danish crowd making some noise around 8 in the kitchen/dining area which lasted about twenty minutes...then woke up again around 1030am from loud construction projects going on in and around the hostel. I hung out in my hammock outside for about 10 minutes to wake up. I saw David and asked him what cabaña I was moving to today. Since I was originally going to move after a week, they already rented the cabaña I was staying in out. He told me I could move upstairs in a few hours to 18. I started to get everything together for the move. I saw Rob awake on his Hammock and Rahul walking around, so the three of us went to breakfast at Tiki Limbo.
After breakfast I headed to school to pick up my surfboard for some surfing around 2pm...to my surprise the school was locked and I did not have access to my board!!! I headed back to the cabañas to see David the caretaker/managet...maybe he had a key to school since the school owns the cabanas. Homeboy doesn´t speak english, so it´s a good thing I know some spanish now. I told him, "My masa de surf es a la escuala. Tu tienes una cave?" He understood the point I was trying to make even though I called my surfboard a "Table of surfing."...I was thinking "Table" in english and said Masa when "board" in spanish is "Una Table." He hopped on his bike and joined me at the school to unlock the door for me to get my board. I grabbed it and took it back to the cabaña. I gave him a buck for helping me out.
Around 2 pm, Rob, Morrits and I headed to the beach to surf. Waves were alright for beginners, but they were fast and too close together, so not great surfing to be had. I met a girl surfing too, some chic named Brynne from Ohio. She´s traveling around South America looking for a job as an English teacher. She´s pretty cute...I invited her out tonight but she already had plans, mabe I´ll see her sometime later this week.
After surfing we headed back to the cabañas to shower and change...we were pretty cold at this point from surfing for 3 hours. My cabaña was being cleaned out by the house keepers...they needed to get it spotless before the new person arrives. I grabbed my stuff from the room and headed upstairs to the master suite...pretty much the standard accomodations as before, but with a full sized bed! Not too bad...but no hammock anymore since it´s upstairs ;(.
After moving into my spacious room, I meandered about the hostel grounds looking for people to hang out with. I headed to Rahul and Marissa´s room and hung out with them for a bit. A new Swedish girl is in town, Lotte, pretty cute too, for a month, so who knows what that´ll bring. Apparently a few of them were going to make a small snack to tide them over til dinner, so I headed to the market to get some stuff to share too and picked up a can of tuna, some chips, and some fresh bread from the bakery.
A few of us had our Tuna sandwiches and chips, drinks, etc. and hung out for about an hour. It was pretty nice to be taking it easy and just relaxing. Around 7pm, Rahul, Rob, Morrits and I headed to Macchu Picchu for dinner...I was in the mood for another chicken cordon blue! To my surprise, it was a different version...not what I orderd last night! I guess the chef´s were swapped out...it was good, but not as good as last night. After dinner we headed to the DVD store to pick up some pirated movies for a 1.50. We picked up year 1 and final destination 4. While everyone headed back to the hostel to hang out until the others showed up for movie night, I headed to the internet cafe to hang out for a bit. After 10 min, I headed back to the hostel. When I got there I realized I left final destination 4 at the cafe!! Oh well, I´ll pick it up tomorrow.
While we were waiting around for Yuliya and Lotte to get back from dinner with their host families, card were broken out and I started amazing everyone with my card tricks...I showed them a few of the easier ones but kept the good ones a secret!
I also showed Rahul, Morrits, and Yuliya how to play Rummy. So later this week if we´re bored, we have a card game we can all play.
Year One was FUNNY...very good. Will definitely add that one to my small and limited DVD collection. After the movie everyone just wanted to crash, so Rahul and I were only going to go our for one drink. Needless to say Braeden and Raya found us in Cocktail Alley at Edison´s stall and 1 drink ended up being 4. Braeden taught Edison bloody knuckles and slaps so those were the games we were playing most of the time. Towards the end another 2 travelers joined us, a 17 year old from DC and her friend for Norway.
The planned quiet night ended up ending around 3am. It was nice.
