Puebla was a fantastic time but it was tme to head to some warmer weather. It took a couple days and a night in an interesting town called Minatitlan, but we made it to spectacular Palenque. This a an ancient Mayan city covering a lot of area. Complete with temples, palaces, ballcourts where the losing team lost a lot more than the game, and breath-taking scenery, we spent the better part of the day here. The temples seemed to rise straight out of the ground with mountains covered in dense jungle as backdrops, amazing. As with every site in Mexico, school [View Full Entry]

A five hour drive turned into a ten hour drive due to military check points and some upset workers who were drinking beers while blocking off the highway for three hours brings us to Oaxaca. Oaxaca's a sweet city, big city feel without the big city pains. There are a lot of artists and students here so there's a great vibe when you're walking around. It also happened to be a particular holiday inwhich fireworks are lit from all the different churches at all hours. Then we happened to run into a parade with lots of music, fireworks and general shenanigans. [View Full Entry]

We heard Puebla is a nice city so we decided to chek it out. It's large with around 5 million people. Puebla is where the battle of 5 de Mayo took place so there's a lot of history here. I've had to break my one and only jacket out, good thing I brought one, as this place has a climate close to San Diego but gets a bit colder at night. There's a bunch of universities here so the night life as well as the city has a great vibe. We're enjoying all that Mexico has to offer. [View Full Entry]

After five or so days in Acapulco we hit a small but popular surf town called Puerto Escondido. For a couple of days we lounged on the beach, played some frisbee (which the local dogs really took a liking too) and did some swimming. We saw some huge surf down the beach and there was actually a surf competition going on that weekend. A really beautiful chill town with some good restaurants and nice people. Just watch out for those damn roosters that cant tell time and make their stupid rooster noices at all hours. Wish I had a pellet gun. [View Full Entry]

This takes us to an 11 hour drive from Manzanillo to another costal paradise. Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa are two towns across a bay from each other that have very different personalities. One is full of all-inclusive resorts perfectly landscaped with legible street signs and the other resembles what Andrew and I have been used to. So we stayed in Zih which had a nice market, sizable fishing activity, and plenty of people. We definitely get looks where ever we go and we are everyone´s "amigo." We took a water taxi to Ixtapa Island where everyone needed their hands greased and took [View Full Entry]

From Guadalajara we headed to Colima and then on to Manzanillo. Colima was a nice small town with a back drop of a huge Volcano, Volcan de Fuego. We stayed a night and headed on to hit the coast again. It took some searching but we found a nicely priced hotel and took in some R&R after all the driving we´ve been doing. The beach was very mellow and we had some great food at some restaurants right on the water. [View Full Entry]

From Puerto Vallarta we planned to go to Tequila, home of you guessed it, tequila. However, sometimes plans need to be changed and when we heard there was a Lucha Libre, look it up, in Guadalajara the next night, we couldn´t pass it up. Unfortunately we couldn´t bring cameras in but it was pure chaos. Something we wish all our friends could experience with us. We met a guy from outside Mexico City who was all about it and explained many of the story lines to us. After the Lucha we indulged in some delicious tacos that are readily available everywhere. Market in Tonala

After driving to Tucson to stay with our buddy Aaron and his girlfriend we hit the Mexican border town of Nogales. Very little hassle there including getting our permits. They are very efficient at extracting money for various reasons from tourists. Eight hours later we found ourselves in a great beach town called San Carlos. We had a welcome to mexico dinner including some tequila and a band consisting of two sets of twins who sang a bunch of traditional Mexicans song with lyrics like"Guantanamto." It was special and we camped for the night. The city was fairly dead and those [View Full Entry]
