Sudan!!! This is the most adventure country of all until now! We left Aswan in the south of Egypt in the 19th to go to Khartoun, capital of Sudan. Take a ferry and a bus. How hard this could be? The weekly ferry departure time was 4pm, but of course we had to get there at 9 in the morning. Nothing more obvious...hehehe. After fighting for keeping our seats during 7 hours our ferry departed. The ferry was great, every person brought with him 500 kilos of luggage. First the luggage whent to the head compartiments, then to the corridos, then [View Full Entry]

I'm reading the Alchemist from Paulo Coelho for about three months now. You can imagine that I'm a slow reader. Yes that in part is true, but I can guarantee you that I am a faster traveler than the guy in the book. He left Spain and is still trying to get to the Egyptian Pyramids I left France and I'm already there. No cheat, both of us are traveling by land... hehehe. The Pyramids are amazing, as big as I had always imagined. The interior is a bit disappointing, a long corridor and a room with a coffin, nothing more. [View Full Entry]

Well, as everyone else... hehehe... we need some vacation too, we were traveling in a strong pace and visiting places was becoming boring because we were always tired. So we decided to stop in a relaxing place for more than only three days, the chosen place is Dahab in the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt. I know you may think we are crazy because in the last 24 of May were some terrorists attacks here. But the place is great and cheaper than many other places we have been before. We pay less than two US Dollars for the night in the [View Full Entry]

Our stay in Jordan would be short. To make possible the visit to Israel, we had to go and come back during the 30 days our Jordanian visa was valid. Two weeks for each country was all we had. Crossing the border we saw for the first time how religion could change things supposedly unchangeable. If you handle your passport the immigration officer is supposed to check if this passport is yours or not, right? WRONG! If you are a woman in a strict Muslim society you cannot show your face! The immigration officers has no right to see it and [View Full Entry]

This entry we couldn't publish earlier because we were afraid of getting in trouble in the many Arab country's we have visited after Israel. Now is time to tell about our journey to the center of the 3 biggest religions in the world! There is something very important we must state here before describing our experience in Israel. We write about injustices from the Israelis towards the Palestinian, but at no means we are taking side in this war. We don't think the Palestinians are innocent neither are the Israelis correct in their actions against the Arab countries. In our opinion [View Full Entry]

We don't know if it’s good or bad to have been there just two weeks before everything started again. From one side we could visit the country, but by the other side we know that what we have seen doesn't exist anymore. Beirut really impressed us, a modern city with modern buildings just beside old bombed ones (scars of the war). The city is really western looking with a touch of Arabic culture. At the same time you can have a coffee in the Star Bucks Cafe, you can smoke a water pipe in the other side of the street. Going [View Full Entry]

Syria was a big change of the scenario. It was the first very cheap country we have been. It was also the first we felt the corruption besides Brazil of course. At the border as we presented our passports with the visas to the immigration officer but he kept looking to the horizon pretending we weren't there. A few minutes later the driver of our bus told us to give him some bribe otherwise he wouldn't stamp our passport. As we put some money inside the passport it was like inserting a token in a jukebox: He started working at once! [View Full Entry]

Finally we had better deal at the border than the world-master-super-duper-travelers Australians. We didn't need visas and they did!!!! With the taste of victory in the mouth we arrived in Istanbul. Was going to be our first Muslim country. But instead of seeing muslin womens covered we met only Aussies and Kiwis everywhere. On the streets the sellers would scream to us "Hey Aussie!" We didn't know what was happening, how come half of the Turkish population was from Oceania (Cheers Bek!). Was a week before ANZAC day, the guys explained us. But what is ANZAC day? According to them is a [View Full Entry]

2 litters beer Europe » Bulgaria » West » Sofia
Although the sightseeing from Sofia you can visit in just one day (it resume in one yellow-brick street with all the remaining buildings of the communist time), we spent five days there, just hanging out in the hostel drinking beer in 2 liters bottles and in many different pubs during the night. For the beer lovers, Bulgaria is a must. From all the countries we have been in Europe, they have the cheapest beer! Special thanks to Ralph, Christian, Siyka and Margarita for the many beers drunk together!! The hostel we stayed (Sofia Hostel), is the first hostel open in the [View Full Entry]

Well, in our trip we have the plans of going in many places that have death risks of epidemic diseases and wars. So, to be safe of all that we decided to take professional advise. Consult someone that has "lived" very very long (hehehe... many hundred years). We new we had a risk contacting this professional... hehehe... many people who did it never came back home... huahuahua. But opposite as you can image our appointment was very pleasant and safe. With just a little entrance annoyance. ... Our journey into Romania started with a night train from Budapest to Brasov. Leaving [View Full Entry]
