Flooded Europe » Hungary
Just before arriving in Budapest, we were approached in the train by a suppose to be tourism agent offering tourist informations. The first moment we were surprised with the efficiency of the tourism authority of Hungary. After a while we discovered she was actually a tout in charge of getting guests for a certain hostel. We normally don't like this. If the hostel was as good as she said there was no need to push us there. Anyway, she gave us a discount card for the hostel and after checking other places we stayed there and it was very good! Hungary [View Full Entry]

For the first time we were in a country where we couldn't understand a single word of the language. Good and bad at the same time. Bad because we couldn't find our way from the train station to the hostel. Good that we had a good excuse to talk to the gorgeous girls from Bratislava!!! Don't forget we are from Brazil, it means we are used to good looking girls, but nothing compares to Slovakia! We were even shy to approach that beauties thinking they would be snobbish (like the beautiful ones back home). On the contrary, they were friendly and [View Full Entry]

There are some things made only for tourists. Normally they are not very good, since the spectators cannot evaluate because it's not their area. One of them are the concerts sold in Vienna by guys dressed like Mozart. In our excitement to do all the famous things form each country we ended buying tickets for one of this concerts. Fernando who has the habit of attending concerts was disappointed with the performance. Besides the concert we spend our time in Vienna waking from one historic building to one concert hall and to another historic building, taking TSP's (Tourist Standard Pictures) [View Full Entry]

Because we have family living in Switzerland, Fernando has been there a few times so it wasn't a big surprise for him. For Claudio was the first time. According to our plan we had some paperwork to do in Geneva. Because the UN headquarters, almost all countries have a embassy there. We thought it would be easy for us to apply for the visas we would need in the first part of the trip. We started visiting embassy after embassy, expecting to get as many visas as possible. Although Geneva has all the embassies, for some reason most of them issue [View Full Entry]

Four months later... we are together again!!!! Fernando and Claudio now in their world tour. Since Claudio went back to Brazil and Fernando studied in England a lot has happened. Claudio went back to his job and worked more 3 months, all the time teased by Fernando's pictures about trips he did in Europe and north Africa. In our minds the image of the Australian backpacker from Portugal and the English backpackers in London kept coming back. Would it be possible fo us to do something like them? And the money? The job? What about the languages? How do we get [View Full Entry]

English immigration proved to be more difficult than expected. Still in France in the train station, the immigration officer got suspect with Fernando. Young, single, unemployed with a brand new passport from a 3rd world country, he had the perfect profile of illegal workers. Wasn't for Claudio's previous US and Canada visa showing that we are "respectable" people, we would have our entry denied. With only 4 days available, we focus our visit to London in the main attractions. We basically wounder around town visiting the London Bridge, Big Ben, The Tower of London, Buckingham palace, Chang [View Full Entry]

Before we left Brazil Fernando had schedule to meet his university friend in Toulouse. We would rent a car and travel around. As we arrived Claudia was waiting for us at the train station. We spend the night in her place drinking wine and laughing about stories on French habits. What would be normal for us latter, was funny at the beginning. The first day we drove to Marseilles, were Flavia joined us. From there, our destination was Cote d'Azur: Nice, Cannes, San Tropez and Monaco. Getting close to Monaco the fun was to compare our small rented Fiat Panda with [View Full Entry]

Ole!! Europe » Spain
Olé Torito, there is no trip to Spain without a visit to the famous Plaza del Toro in Madrid! The toradas attract hundreds of locals and tourists alike every Sunday. We were there just at the right time. Although the reports about these shows are very different, we decided to see it and have our own opinion: El Torero, symbol of masculinity and bravery for the Spanish, in our opinion is a big fag. He dresses in pink tight clothes, puts make up on, and only fights the bull after the poor animal has been stabbed almost to death by the [View Full Entry]

We landed in Lisbon, it is funny to see another country speaking the same language(it was our first time). The English speakers probably never have this feeling since they are so used to seeing everything in their own language all over, but for us it was pretty funny! We took a bus to the city center to see more similarities with Brazil. Not only the language, but the architecture is the same! The houses, buildings, churches, streets, all reminds us of Brazil. It's impossible to deny that they are our patriarchs. It's like being in a traditional quarter of São Paulo. [View Full Entry]
