... read more

We had a great last night in Hong Kong, sampling some more interesting food at a street-side seafood restaurant in the Temple St Night Market. After some stall browsing and bargaining we also blasted out some more fantastic karaoke tunes. We had to leave early due to a ridiculously early flight, but the others kicked on until the early hours. Early the next morning we caught the Airport Express from Kowloon. It was pretty cool and we were able to check-in and dump our luggage at the train station and then cruise out in comfort. We spent way too much time on the long flight over watching movies and not enough time sleeping so we were pretty exhausted by the time we arrived at Heathrow. We negotiated the terminal change to catch our flight to ... read more

Hi guys, Not going to rabbit on too much as we have just put on loads of photos and they can pretty much tell the story of what we have been up to since our last blog. Most importantly it was great to see Vicky and Simon who came out to Sri Lanka it up with us in our first week here. It was a shame they could only stay a week, but we hope they got a good taste for the country in their time here, particularly the famous rice and curry! As the photos will probably show we are still having a fantastic time, bit sad we only have a few days left, but also looking forward to getting away from the searing sun and annoying insects that still only bite me and not ... read more

We arrived back in America at SFO February 28, 2007. Back to the Bay. Back to family. Back to reality? Not so much. Boy are we LUCKY! Maybe a touch Spoiled too! 'Back to Reality' for Mike and myself meant wine and laughter, taco feasts, soaking in Calistoga, catching up with the best of friends, the sights of Tahoe, snowboarding, and reminiscing about times that are sometimes forgotten. Work?...Not yet, possibly not till April (GASP!). Home?...not a set place yet, simply where the heart is with family and friends. Life has brought us back to America but not to reality quite yet. Thailand seems like it happened in a magical place where time stood still. Looking at the 3000+ pictures we took is amazing (Yes, I said 3000+!). Thailand was so wonderful. The experience has given ... read more

Christina here: Last week I got some amazing footage of another outreach of this family: Giving food, blankets, vitamins and money to lepers from the community. I expertly filmed their wholistic distribution, and somehow captured the essence of a sacred humanity: serving hearts and love poured out in tangible form. My video camera was everywhere, missing no caring glance, no outstretched hand being filled by saintly servants. This might possibly be the most beautiful video ever shot. I'll get an Academy Award, at least, but this is not about me--- The important thing is, I did a rough edit on the office computer here, and they held city-wide viewings, projecting it onto a huge sheet in the field they use for gospel crusades. At first, people just came to see what was going on, but then ... read more

Well, it's my second day at Kaewoong middle school . I haven't begun teaching yet. I'm observing the korea teachers' classes so I can get the feel of the students. Tomorrow I will begin officially. I'm presently sitting in my very own classroom ( korean teachers usually move to different classes every period so there's not 1400 children running through the halls every 45 minutes. Down side... I'm very secluded from everyone else who has their desks in the teachers office. I'm preparing name tags for all my students right now. Their names are on their uniforms in Korean letters but I'd prefer to have their name spelled out in English so it doesn't take me an entire minute to sound out their names everytime I want to call on them. I'll be arranging the desks ... read more

A month on the Andaman islands seemed to be quite a long time. But now, when I look back, it is simply incredible how quickly these weeks have passed by... At the 10th of February I arrived in Port Blair, the little capital of the Andaman islands. It was obvious for me from the beginning on that the life on these little islands east of the mainland is very different. The omnipresent overcrowdedness of India does not apply here and the pace of life is way slower. It was not surprising to find out that they even have a "siesta". From 1 pm to 4 pm all the little shops on the islands are closed. I wrote my last e-mails from Port Blair and visited the so called "cellular jail" in town, where the independence fighters ... read more
