Psy recently filmed the most watched video in the history of YouTube but may need to have his song's hook amended, for in Thailand there are many sexy ladies! The country is the party capital of the world, and justifiably famous for the good times on offer. There's a cure available for skeptics that goes by the name of 'I'm resistant to the party capital of the world'. It comes in a simple pill form, and the medicated dosage is sure to take effect before you know it. But let's move on from the party scene, and focus on what humans enjoy most (aside from some extra good loving of course) and that's got to be glorious food! In Thailand a divine street meal from a vendor costs the princely sum of a dollar or two. ... read more
My Unforgettable Experience in Chiang Mai Thailand
Published: April 4th 2013Asia » Thailand » North-West Thailand » Chiang MaiI am so glad that I picked out Chiang Mai Thailand as my travel destination last holidays. I can confess that I spent the best 20 days of my life there. I loved every second of my tour. I enjoyed the best fun activities, visited the most beautiful attractions I had ever seen and I loved the cuisine too. It is a modern city that has stricken a balance between modernization, its rich traditions and history. I liked the fact that in Chiang Mai Thailand nothing is overpriced. Food, accommodation, transport and tour tickets are all very affordable. As I passed by street stalls and vendors, I could not ignore the huge wok fire and ... read more
The golden splendour of Wat Phra That Phanom
Published: April 16th 2013Asia » Thailand » North-East Thailand » That PhanomOur next destination was That Phanom, another small town on the Mekong River which was a days bus travel from Nong Khai. We first caught a bus to the city of Nakon Phanom and then a mini bus for the further 45 kilometers to That Phanom. The bus trip seemed to take forever - the driver literally hugged the side of the road the whole way, slowing down every time he saw a person - hopeful that they would wave down his bus. We never thought we would arrive - and though we did enjoy segments of the passing scenery for the most part it was flat, dry and not particularly interesting. We arrived in Nakon Phanom at 4.30pmand were tempted just to find a hotel for the night but decided to continue. Thankfully we were ... read more

Sawadika from Thailand, We began our time in South East Asia in Thailand, in the capital called Bangkok. We stayed in Bangkok for 5 days and will return later in our trip as there is so much to see. It is great to be in a country that 'feels' different again. Here are some differrences about Thailand from England. The weather is very hot and humid in Bangkok, it's a different type of heat from just being in direct sunlight, the main language is Thai, the money they use is called Bhat and they are 7 hours in front of England's time. One of the main differnces that you instantly notice is that there are food stalls everywhere. These stalls have lots of different names but them are very small stalls that sell hot food, normally ... read more
We took our afternoon flight down to Phuket on Tuesday, and after a quick bite to eat, my brother, Tony, came to meet us for a drink at our hostel (Bodega) bar. He entertained us with stories of his travels, and later, we (along with Marion - a fellow traveller from our hostel) went and joined him, John, Bartley and some of their friends from their hostel (Kool Backpackers). Kool Backpackers is run by a guy named Ang, who seemed really nice and had a wicked sense of humour. He often sat chatting with his guests, giving off a really welcoming vibe. The hostel is based on the hectic bar street, Bangla Road, where hundreds of touts promote 'ping-pong' shows - women doing bizarre things with ping-pong balls, and - as I was later advised - ... read more
Learning to dive with Team Kenji Koh Tao April 2012
Published: March 18th 2013Asia » Thailand » North-East Thailand » SurinKoh Tao was about a 2 hour high speed ferry crossing from Koh Samui , it was good to get off that Island, I love Islands I was even born and grew up on one the Isle of WIght , I seem to be drawn to islands , in the army I went to the Falkland Islands, Ascention Island,Sardinia , La Madalena and holidayed on the Canary Islands but there is only a certain amount you can see on such a small Island like Koh Samui. With directions written on the back of scrap piece of paper I left the little busy port of Koh Tao and walked through the bustling little markets along the dirt tracks in search of the dive centre, I felt a bit silly dragging my Cambodian wheely suitcase behind me , ... read more
Koh Lanta, 5-11 February Koh Ngai, 11-24 February Koh Samui, 24 February-4 March Bangkok, 4-5 March Koh Lanta was very relaxing and very beautiful. We spent the first few days just enjoying being settled in one place, wandering around Saladan where we were staying (the main dive and tourist site) and sampling fresh seafood caught just metres from where we ate. It was my birthday a couple of days after we arrived so we booked a boat trip out around the islands. The day began with an early morning drive from the north of the island right down to to the boat port on the east coast near to the Old Town. As we drove, it got more and more green and lush, the jungle ferns got bigger, the undergrowth around us more dense and the ... read more
One reason I usually avoid posting my future plans in my blog is because they change frequently. Now, this statement is more likely to be true when I am out on the road, rather than living in a fixed place. But in this circumstance, and really in general, I could not foresee the events life was about to throw at me. I made the foolish mistake of giving you a "6-month plan" in my last blog, and, not shockingly, I am currently in the process of drastically altering these plans. Thailand has been a roller coaster, but it has also been nothing less than a wonderful experience. Many things have changed in my life and in me. I have given it my all, even when it meant lowering my standards or expectations. This is not always ... read more
