A ringing endorsement
Found this sign on my morning walk. Rest day, I can use it. It’s not just sit around and sleep day though. Today it’s trying to finish up any shopping because I’m too tired during the week to do it, or it’s raining in the evening. Got to breakfast late, and it was almost standing room only. Quite the difference from my normal 6:00 time when I’m about the only one there. Decided to take a walk down some of the streets I’ve not been on before. They're all very similar except Sunday morning when it’s all still very quiet. Even the taxi drivers aren’t that pushy at 8:30 in the morning. The walk was about an hour and the plan is for a light workout in the hotel gym with weights. Haven’t really lifted any since leaving Savannah. I’m sure I won’t pay for that, right Deb??? The scale at the hotel says my weight is exactly the same as a week ago, which I find hard to believe when the Fitbit tells me I’m averaging spending well over 4000 calories per day, and I know I’m not taking in more than 2000. Plus I’m not having my normal breakfast of Starbucks and chocolate chip cookies. Guess
Morning sidewalk cleaning.
Hadn’t seen this process before. One man sprays the water around while there are two teams sweeping everything towards the storm drain. it’s ok to eat that stuff then.
The new thing I’ve seen today is one of the pictures. I remember in the morning seeing crews of people sweeping the sidewalks and cleaning up trash to get ready for the day. Today, the crew was large and used a water truck hosing down the sidewalk while about 3 or 4 people swept the sidewalk, and another 4 were following them sweeping the rest of the water towards the drains. Maybe I just was never out when this was done before, but I have noticed the sidewalks seem much cleaner than I recall. And the loose tiles are not so loose any more.
Todays adventure is an evening bike tour near Chinatown again, including some Wats and a few other things. It ended up being a private tour, and amazingly, the weather was perfect. The tour guide said last night in that area they had so much rain the streets were flooded where we were starting. The first stop was a rooftop bar for a view over Chinatown. They seem to be the thing to have here now. Most of the big hotels have them and they are the place
Rooftop bar
This overlooks Chinatown. The weather couldn’t have been better. It was the first time for over a week where it hadn’t rained in the evening. to be seen on social media , assuming you have the cash. The trip took us back to Chinatown and the Head of the Dragon. This is where the main road starts. Everyday except Monday, starting at 5:00, there is a street food fare and it’s a major attraction. It takes place at the stomach of the Dragon, so the guide says. I was glad he knew where to go and what vendors were the best. I had some delicious Chinese dumplings buried in fried garlic and soy sauce. Then we had the main meal of Pad Thai. Really good stuff. There were many different things available to eat, all the way from scorpions on a stick, to fish, lobsters, vegetables, or just about anything else you could want.
We cycled out and before leaving Chinatown we stopped at another important temple, Wat Leng Noel Yi, the Temple of the Holy Mother. The trip continued from there towards the river and saw Wat Arun on the other bank of the river. I have many pictures, but haven’t included them all here because I don’t know if there is a size limitation for processing. I had seen some of the
On the way to Chinatown street food
Part of this tour was to experience Chinatown street food. The Main Street has once lane blocked off and food vendors are everywhere. They do this every day except Monday. same things on previous tours, so we skipped a few things to finish early. I Didn’t mind because I still had 45 minutes to get back to the hotel and I was starting to get tired. Still logged over 13 miles yesterday. The trip is going fast. Only four full days left. Friday is only one training session as the flight leaves in the evening. It looks like United has decided I need to tour the Tokyo airport for awhile and has changed the layover to 11 hours. Have to see if there’s an option to change that.

Yes you will pay
Sounds like an amazing tour! The pic of the street cleaning…the streets are not like I imagined. Please bring me home a scorpion on a stick. Have fun, work hard and take care. Oh and I hope you get that flight changed!
