So after just two nights in Krabi Town, instead of heading to one of the provincial beaches Ao Nang, Hat Ton Sai or Hat Rai Leh, I took the 2h ferry ride south to the cluster of islands collectively known as Koh Phi Phi Don. As noted in my earlier entry, Koh Phi Phi is of course famous for being featured in Leonardo di Caprio's film "The Beach", so it seemed obligatory for me to check it out. In fact, the actual beach where many of the movie's scenes were shot lies not on the main island, but on a smaller one slightly further south, specifically Maya Bay on Phi Phi Leh. It costs an additional THB1500+ by longtail boat there, so you can probably guess I decided to pass and just explore the main island. ... read more

2nd Island before the desert Our time in Phuket was at an end apart from a one night sleep over before we were flying to Dubai. We had spent four days with our eldest son, had a great time seeing him and a bit of Phuket and were now going to spend four days on our own on Phi Phi. The previous time we came to Phuket we only spent a couple of hours on Phi Phi and wanted to spend a bit more time on it and were hoping to dive and snorkel. At Phuket we couldn’t snorkel because the sea was too rough and dirty. Another difference from the last time we were in Phuket, because we spent hours snorkelling around the rocks at the ends of the beaches because the sea was so ... read more

After our first LONG bus journey on a sleeper bus (where we were sat right at the back below the violent air con all night) and a short boat ride, we arrived in Koh Phi Phi. Seeing as we got ripped off and our whole Thailand trip planned for us, we had to stay in the accommodation booked for us, called something like 'Pong ping house', which I can only describe as looking like a drug den..it was tiny, had no windows and after waking up with blood on our pillows we discovered there were bed bugs too, YAY! In all honesty I wasn't bothered, I'm not one for luxury and frankly I was smashed each night I came in to sleep, and we hardly spent any of the day in there. The only positive was ... read more

"Pee Pee" is how you say "Phi Phi Isands," which was our destination Wednesday/Thursday. Tuesday was a pretty chill day. Within 10 minutes of waking up, we were swimming in the ocean (not a bad way to start to day!). We then moved to the pool and ate our breakfast at the swim up bar. We ordered a very nice Thai beef salad that had the lovliest hint of lime and spice along with fried rice. After getting around we decided to drive to Patong beach which is the main tourist beach here and where I think that most people stay. Well, Matt had his Thailand driving initiation on this drive because we moved into more populated Phuket and that = hundreds of motorbikes everywhere weaving in/out. He handled it like a champ of course and ... read more

For our last full day on the island we booked a 3 dive full day trip with Island Divers ($137). We have never done 3 dives in a single day, the normal day is 2, but we hated to miss out on anything by opting out after we heard there have been some recent Whale Shark sightings. We left at 0730 and rode 1 ½ hours to the King Cruiser wreck site through the roughest seas I have been on. I struggled not to get seasick so early in a long day as the boat pitched back and forth, practically capsizing as far as I was concerned. Entering and exiting the boat was a treacherous affair, but once we were in under the water it was calm and peaceful. The King Cruiser lies in 70 ft. ... read more

We took the 2 hr. long 0900 ferry ($13) from Krabi Town pier to Ko Phi Phi Don, our final beach destination for this trip. Ko Phi Phi is supposed to be the most beautiful island in Thailand and have some of the best diving so I decided to book 3 nights there to finish off our trip. The island has two emerald and jade colored bays separated by a sandy isthmus where the main town and bars are. Towering limestone cliffs line the coastline. I had reserved a sleep aboard boat that goes to Maya Bay, the famous postcard perfect beach used in the 1999 Leonardo DiCaprio movie The Beach. This beach gets a lot of tourist traffic during the day, but it is an uninhabited island so it is empty at night. The sleep ... read more

Bangkok receives either a love or hate reaction. Some people come from a day and either go North 12 hours to the villages there or South 12 hours to the Islands. I decided to take it slow and see a site a day. Spending my day snacking on street food and admiring a city that can be so busy but somehow still have a safe under control feeling. Do: Grand Palace, Wat Pho, Siam Museum, Lumpini Park, Khao San, Park by Riverside Day Trip- Old Capital, Ayutthaya Eat: EVERYTHING! Street food is cheap and delicious, From Pad Thai to Skewers, Papaya Salad, Fruit Shakes. Most foods are spicy so be aware. Know: Never pay full price. Negotiate! Bring lots of extra spending money so lots of cheap clothes and fun items, wear sunscreen and drink lots ... read more

Geo: 7.7455, 98.7754Going to Victoria Falls last winter was one of the most unforgettable travel experiences we have had, and it was so good that we went back there for a day trip today. So how exactly did we manage to travel all the way to Africa from Thailand, just for a single day? Well, it's because we went there only in my mind, in a feverish delusion, when today, I turned into Victoria Falls. Get it? If you did, I'm sure you didn't need that visual - hopefully you weren't having your morning cup of coffee while reading this, and if you were, didn't spurt it out of your nose!I had a visit from an unwanted little friend named Campylobacter, a nastier little mofo than even our mugger in Phuket Town, he assaults over 50% ... read more

Różnice były aż o 200 Baht, aż ponieważ to 20 zł to tutaj dość duża suma.
