A day to Sagres (the "so-called", end of Europe). The town was small and apparently accommodates to a lot of surfers. We walked around the fort and then drove over to the other point (Cape St Vincent's) where the big lighthouse was. I couldn't believe the difference in the temperature at the lighthouse!! The breeze blowing off the Atlantic was MUCH cooler (almost cold). Vendors were selling big "rugged-looking" shirts and ponchos, as well as a lot of ceramics. We left the lighthouse and headed for a restaurant that had been highly recommended on Trip Adviser. We had a couple cold beers and split an order of sardines between us. The total bill was 13€. :-o The meal came with olives, bread and a nice salad that we split between the two of us. All in all, a very nice lunch!

Here is the video I took off Cape St Vincent.

Don't know where we're heading next, but there will be more to come. Enjoy!

This building was originally built in 1459, however, replaced around 1570. It was then damaged during the earthquake of 1755. I assume the stones in the floor are an indication of those buried under the church as the documentation indicated the part of the renovation included covering the old “charnel house” (vault or building where human skeletal remains are stored) of the cemetery.

This picture was taken from out on the point. There are surfers on the beach closer to the big rock that is just off the beach. To the far right is a building that is a restaurant. This gives you some frame of reference as to how big this area is.

A sailboat sailing just off the coast. Later you’ll see the boat, again, as it approaches the lighthouse on the other point.

It was quite breezy up there and the temperature actually was much cooler on the point of the lighthouse (off in the distance behind me).

There were several fishermen fishing off the cliffs (nearly 125’ in the air)! This one was actually taking a break for a sandwich.

End of Europe
Hi Debbie - WOW you both are getting so tanned! Love the rock with the swirling water - I bet it has a lot of stories to tell.
