Up early this morning for a road and river trip. We booked this trip with the same agency. Trip began with a 2.5 hour road trip on the mini-bus. Like yesterday it is a small group - this time 6 people.

Motorbikes are the major mode of transportation for people including moving goods.

Along the way were numerous roadside stalls as well as a local logging truck. Rice seems to the primary crop in the open fields.

The first part of the river journey was in a motorized boat. We saw many of these on the river. There is a lot of shipping in the channels. There are hotel boats as well.

There are many islands one of which was our first stop. Here were able to see and taste some of the local fruit and enjoy some entertainment.

Our next water segment was in a sampan. We explored the canals through the island. Then back on the motorized boat. We passed by a floating market where we enjoyed coconut milk and tried durian fruit which has a terrible smell but has a creamy taste.

At our final river stop we visited a craft area where we saw coconut milk candy being made as well as puffed rice. There was also a display of snake wine.

While at the craft area the afternoon downpour occurred. This seems to be the norm here.

We walked to our final stop where we had a cooking lesson and made our own "pancakes".

At this location we were served a delicious multiple course meal.

Finally back to the hotel after a 10 + hour day.

Looks neat! Easy enough to avoid fish? The snake wine looks disgusting!

As usual, love your photos and commentary. There are some things I won't eat over there nor like to look at. But I did eat crispy grasshoppers/crickets. Durian is tasty. However, due to its smell it is banned in many hotels and on airlines.
I think it got the title "king of fruit" simply because of its smell - nothing you eat quite smells like it. And its smell can linger for days.

Like Jeremy says, the food is very good there. Enjoy. It looks yummy.
