Last night there was heavy rain and thunder but by the time we set out the rain had stopped and it turned out to be a pleasant day.

Back on transit this morning. The system works very well but is definitely busy. One thing we noticed when walking is that stair areas also have twin divided ramps which can be used for bikes and carriages.

One observation is that a large number of young women here are either pushing carriages, pregnant or both. You also see men pushing strollers mid-day as well. The fellow who rented us the apartment said that Stockholm is a city of children. It certainly seems to be the case. They have a social system which provides for that.

The Nordiska museum is very extensive. To do it thoroughly would take days. It was opened in June 1907. It is very well organized and English audio guides are provided which work very well. The top floor exhibitions are homes & interiors, Swedish folk art, Sapmi (Sami Culture) and small things.

The second floor exhibitions are traditions, table settings, toys & doll houses, jewellery and fashion.

On the ground floor is the Folk-Hemmet apartment which is representative of the type of government housing in the mid 1900's.

We walked from the museum to the Opera House but it was too late for tours. It is a very impressive structure complete with the Royal Boxes.

Final stop was the City Hall which is a very impressive but somewhat austere looking building. It is on the waterfront.

One building we often wondered about turns out to be a hotel designed by a German architect. It seems there are various opinions about its design.
