I have included a few photos of the apartment we rented. Behind the building across the street is the walkway and canal.

We boarded a small ferry which took us into the main part of Stockholm. As I mentioned before, the city is composed of 14 islands which are connected by 57 bridges. It is very picturesque. Most of the housing seems to be low rises and the more modern buildings have very nice balconies. As soon as the sun comes out you see people gathered near the water. One can understand it because for many months of the year the water is frozen over and the sun comes up at 9 AM and sets at 3 PM. Stockholm is on the 59 parallel.

We got caught in a downpour today which just seemed to appear instantly. Everyone heads for shelter and it only lasts 5 - 10 minutes.

We walked to the Royal Palace which is very impressive. There are several museums located within the building. The palace is used primarily for state occasions. The Royal Family do not live there. Unfortunately, photos cannot be taken inside the building.

Several large churches exist. The main church is the cathedral. Others include the German church and another which has been used for burials. Many notables are buried here.

Most of the buildings today were on the island of Gamla Stan which is the old part of the city.

We purchased the Stockholm Card for 3 days which gives us free admittance to museums, transit as well as the historical boat tour which we took advantage of today.
