This is officially the last day of our holidays. The next day or so is travelling. It is as well our time is finished as both our suitcases are a little worse for wear. The bearings have gone on the wheels on mine. I think just too many cobblestones and rough pavement. I was dragging it along complaining about how heavy it was when Andy checked and we swopped bags so he dragged mine and I pulled his along. The wheels on Andy's bag are good but the handle is difficult to pull out or push in. A tad easier after some casual use of Paul's WD40!! Also, part of the suitcase is coming apart. They have both served us well.

Today we met up with friends who are just starting their holiday as we finish ours. We decided to visit the Palm Jumeirah. It has its own monorail. At the end is an amazing water park area. Unfortunately, we weren't organised to use it but we went to Gordon Ramsay's restaurant Bread and had an expensive drink and a chat. The Palm Jumeirah is an artificial archipelago from reclaimed land in the shape of the palm.

Andy and I then said goodbye to our friends and headed back to our hotel as we were going on another desert safari (we did one last time we were here). We made it in plenty of time to the hotel for pickup. There were 3 American women from Chicago on the safari as well. They weren't very social and one felt a little sick. On the way back one of them asked how far we were from Italy. Andy asked her if she was joking and I said we did have kangaroos that jumped down the street.

The safari was fabulous fun and the food and drink at the Bedouin camp was really nice and some great belly dancing to finish the night off. I did find out that I am really bad at walking on soft sand with or without shoes.

Back to the hotel to pack for tomorrow. It has been fun. Hope to catch up with you all when we are back.
