Today we went out to a local restaurant near our home for a nice lunch. Jim and Sonya enjoyed the set menu and Pat just ordered a main course. The restaurant had a lovely patio area which we enjoyed for the three hours we sat and ate our meal. We could not believe the size of the pork knuckle that arrived in front of Pat! The main course was served with broiled potatoes and ratatouille. The restaurant serves mostly locally-produced foods. After the main course we were served a cheese plate with a delicious walnut flavoured cheese and tasty plum jam. France has over 400 types of cheese for us to enjoy! We also tasted a local Bordeaux wine which went well with our meal. We have read that the French consume 11.2 billion glasses of wine a year!! After our filling meal we went for a little drive before heading home to relax for the rest of the day.
