Will soon be heading to the pub to watch the final fixture of the epl season. Id hoped to get a ticket to St James for Newcastle vs Arsenal, but it wasnt to be. The last couple days have been relatively low key. Friday Nat and I were dropped in Durham for a wander about. Being a relatively clear day, we headed straight to tge cathedral to climb the tower. 300 steep steps to the top was a workout but offered really nice views of the surrounding area. We sat a while and enjoyed the view.Afterwards, we stopped in at a pub for a shared platter for lunch. The weather still nice we elected to try walk the horse shoe track of the river Wear around the cathedral. Expecting a long walk, we didnt realise wed completed it and continued to follow the river well out of town. When the river vered off the wrong way, we knew wed gobe astray and made a makeshift path back, through private property and neighborhood sidestreets.Friday night, Joe found me a spot on a five a side football match. With Arsenal having just secured the locals position in next seasons premier league, I felt safe enough to wear my Arsenal jersey. It was a fairly competitive game, a few my age, a few younger, a few older. I played well enough, scoring three as our team narrowly won.I woke the next day with a sore ankle. Its still sore now, and still strapped. Rain fell all day Saturday, and we basically just stayed in. Nat, Maureen, Joe and I all headed around to Andrew and Annas for Indian take away for dinner. After which, we were treated to thrilling entertainment, in the Eurovision final. We sat through a marathon of sometimes cheesy, sometimes disturbing and sometimes just plain terrible music before Denmark was crowned the champion. The weather has improved today. We are lazing about after a delicious roast lunch. There should be a bit on the cards next week before we head to Scotland. We went into Durham with Andrew and Anna Lise for the Newcastle vs Arsenal match. A few drinks were needed to keep nerves steady on a tense day. Eventually the end result was success, champions league football. To celebrate, burgers downtown.

Didn't know you could go up the tower - doesn't matter as I wouldn't have made it anyway!
