As my time in HueHue and Guatemala comes to a close, I am anxious to gather last minute glimpses and experiences. It seems that two weeks in one space is long enough to get a good sense of the society and behavior but just under the time needed to make lasting relationships. Its hard beucase I have bonded with my host family and just as we are begining to really create depth in our relationship, I have to leave. This is not to say that my homestay experience is not vaulable. On the contrary. I believe its one of the best ways to learn about your self. What better way to break barriers then to sit down to dinner with a family you don´t know and don´t speak the language of? Its an incredibly, honest and uncomfortable situation. I love every minute of it.

I managed to contract food poisening agian. It seems as if a pattern is forming. Every country I visit, I end up spending three of four days with some serious stomach aches. Its grown to be rather comforting. Unfortunatly, it inhibited my time spent in the Orphanage. It worked out that the days I did make it, we created the puppets. I´ll tell you what, its a lot harder then you think to organize the creation of 30 puppets with four inexperienced puppeteers. We had a blast though. It brought me straight back to the days when I would draw horses incessantly. Its quite empowering to have 10 excited, smiling children asking you to cut our their crocadilla or to draw them a caballo. I think my experience at this orphanage has inspired me to direct the focus of my internship in Africa towards a similar situation.

I am totally ready to get away from the exhust and filth of Hue Hue. I am dying for some clean air and the thought of a week long yoga retreat on the beach in Costa Rica is awfully tempting. Still, I am taking in all my experiences and staying focused on my time left here. I have no idea what the internet availibilty is in Costa Rica but I will try to find a place to update you all in between the yoga, snorkeling and dolphin tours that await my presence! Hope the transition to fall and winter is treating you well!
Love E
