We discovered that our B&B is actually just a B with a stroll to the local cafe if you want the second B which consisted of a coffee, some orange juice and a croissant -not the buffet selection expected, but hey, you get what you pay for. The room is nice enough although it lacks pillows, towels, TV channels (the remote doesn't work) and the hair dryer plug is decidedly dodgy. We don't intend to complain as these things aren't important plus it's all part of the experience; besides the location is ideal (near the train, boat and bus stations)
We contemplated (for a couple of seconds) driving the car we'd hired for the purpose of visiting, but then stuck to our original plan and took the train to Sorrento followed by the bus to Positano, a gruelling one hour on winding bends stopping at local villages along the way to pick up passengers. Whilst writing this (sitting in a cafe with a capachino) we have decided not to use the return portion of the bus ticket, in favour of the boat, which we are promised only takes half an hour. Positano is another quaint town with lots of

tourist style shops down narrow alleyways, many steps, lots of places to eat and drink and a beautiful view out to sea. There is a beach, partly public (lots of people using it) and partly private ie pay to use (nobody sitting on it). It's very tranquil, when you move out of the busy shopping streets.
