Merry Christmas from Satun, Thailand.

I had a fab time celebrating Christmas with friends @On's the Living Room in Satun, Thailand. It's always hard being away from friends, family, loved ones at this time of year but thankfully the transient community of travelers provides fun times and fascinating experiences.

In the morning I shared fruits, duck and drinks with the boys at the shipyard and got into the festive spirit, they're a great bunch of guys and they all wished me a 'Merry Christmas' on my arrival. It was a nice start to the day and a really festive atmosphere.

In the evening I celebrated Christmas at On's place in Satun, the chef 'Sow' had cooked a delicious meal of Roast Chicken and Roast Beef with all the trimmings... Yorkshire pudding, roast potato's, onion gravy, veg galore... followed by delicious desserts. All the staff worse Christmas outfits and the waiters were dressed in their best outfits which made for a suitably classic Christmas event.

In the background we had a fantastic Jazz Duo from Bangkok, their playing complimented the whole evening which was filled with fun and laughter and Christmas Cheer. Friends shared the evening and we had a great time celebrating, eating and drinking together and of course a bit of dancing!

Christmas was combined by a birthday celebration and cake was brought out to Jia who is based at the shipyard, it was a nice touch on a special day.

Although I really miss being at home especially at this time of year, catching up with family on Skype was wonderful, being involved in some of the celebrations, chatting to Dad, brothers, sisters, nephews, friends and feeling involved in their day and I loved the wee Christmas songs sung for Aunty Clare...

So Merry Christmas one and all, here's looking forward to the New Year, I wonder what adventures 2016 will bring.
