This is the view outside of my window! St Marks Square. Geo: 45.3374, 12.1379
Got the bus to the train station at Gredavagno. I had missed the train by 5 minutes and had to wait two hours for the next one. Once I arrived in Venice I bought an all day vaporetto (ferry) ticket. Caught the ferry to my hostel- what a great location, it is across from the Grand Canal. My room faced the canal and out my window I could see Saint Marks Square, etc. Caught the ferry to Saint Marks Square and changed ferry to Burano. 40 mins later arrived at the island of Burano. It is a pretty little fishing village, all the houses are colourfully painted. It makes Venice look dull and bland. Am glad I spent time here. Wandered around, saw a very leaning bell tower, walked along canals, over bridges. Caught the ferry back to Venice. Walked around, bought a slice of pizza and ate it on the Rialto Bridge. Walked to Saint Marks Square. Its so much easier to walk around once all the stores have closed, as people are not browsing for souvenirs and walking slowly. Caught the ferry to the train station to check train times and then ferry to hostel. Started to
02 Coming into Burano
View of the colorful village as we dock. fall asleep until it started raining on my head, then I had to close the window, although I could have done with a cool breeze in this hot weather. It was pretty exciting to be sleeping in this old city, full of history.
