Coba Ruins

Finally the Coba Ruins, which is another stunning Mayan site near the gorgeous Riviera Maya.

I like in particular this Mayan site cause is not by far as touristic as other popular destinations in the Yucatan peninsula, and I like the fact of being there almost by myself, hidden in the forest to contemplate this stunning masterpiece of mankind.

I always say I love the feeling,when there are not many tourists, of being an early explorer of these magnificient site.

Coba came to be around 100 A.D. and became a major city in the 600 A.D.

Also interesting is that some of the surrounding structures have not yet been excavated and in a few years it would be curious to see what it would look like.

The big temple pyramid of Coba is awesome from the top where I can see all the forest extending as far as the eye can see.

The huge pyramid is known as Nohoch Mul which means "large hill" and is about 42 meters tall.

There are two ballgame courts and all the stelae but some of them are, now, collapsed.

It is a very small site and easy to visit but being not much explored it is

probably more alluring than its more famous sites.

You have done well yet again Marcos. Another Mayan site but this one with the allure of reclaimed by the jungle until rediscovered by the occasional traveller such as you. Great find.

Hello Dave, yes another beautiful site in the stunning Yucatan jungle.. South Mexico and central America are just full of Wonderful ancient hidden treasures.
