The trip into Nola was hazardous rain on and off. Angie drove to the conditions. Francine only squealed once and held on tight to the OS bar.

Traffic was backed up approaching the city and we needed a bathroom break, pulled off and getting back on required a u turn, but Angie was in a lane a and wanting to make a u turn and because of the hard rain didn't see the no u turn sign and flashing lights and a whooping siren from the police car behind her, alerted her to that fact. So we pulled over 3 lanes but the cop just went by us. Thank heavens the cop didn't want to write a ticket in a cloud burst.

Our hotel Courtyard Marriott was on St. Charles Street just one block from the French Quarter. We spent 3 days here in New Oleans and had a great time. We toured the Laura and Oak Alley plantation and a swamp tour in the bayou. Do you know gators like marshmallows?

Walking around the Quarter we enjoyed the Cafe du Monde and the beingets and the muffeletta at Central grocery. The quarter is beautiful as well as a little crazy. We did ride the St. Charles street car to see the lovely old homes in the garden district and had breakfast at Camellia Grill, a neighborhood grill from the 40's. Sandra Bullock has a home 2 blocks from the trolley line. No, we did see her anywhere.

We walked the water front where there were a couple of river boat paddle steamers. And at night a special treat on St. Phillip St. Is the statue of Jesus illuminated that covers the entire back of the of the church.

Forgot to mention: .....

In New York at the One World Observatory we had to go through security screening. Francine's bag with camera, sunglass case and wallet apperntly looked suspicious. The guard asked her if she had a taser. To which she answered , no. We keep laughing about it.

In Ohio, driving along Francine commented on the smell. Yes we had just driven past a dead skunk on the side of the road, stinking to high heaven. Don't have skunk in Australia.
