On Friday, we checked out of our beautiful suite overlooking Niagara Falls and ate a leisurely lunch in the revolving restaurant at the top of the Skylon Tower. Left Niagara Falls, Ontario, for Toronto. Decided to take our rental car back early, as it was more of a hassle and expense, rather than a convenience, in Toronto traffic. Found that our Super 8 hotel (1 night free on Wynham points) is actually in Chinatown Centre, somewhat of a China Town mall. Of course, we had Chinese food for supper. . .

On Saturday, we did the hop-on hop-off sightseeing bus and cruise around Toronto harbour and islands. Our favorite experience was the St. Lawrence market, with 130 venders of fresh foods. Steve had a delicious crab salad sandwich, and I tried the regional specialty "pea-meal bacon" sandwich, which doesn't taste like peas or bacon--it seemed basically like a thinly sliced, tender pork tenderloin on a delicious bun. And we couldn't resist a cherry turnover from one of the bakery venders. On the way home, we tried freshly made fruit smoothies (we passed on the tapioca bubbles) from one Chinatown vender. Toronto's Chinatown is supposed to be like the 3rd largest Chinatown in North America, but we noticed that there is no elaborate gate at the entrance like in San Francisco or Chicago.

Today, we started with a tour of Casa Loma, supposedly the largest castle in North America (Since we will miss the castles in England on the trip that Mom and Smiths are taking!) We walked up the narrow spiral stairs to the top of the Scottish tower--reminded me of the lighthouse stairs that Mom & I climbed last summer in Michigan. Then, we walked around one of the big street festivals going on, in Little Italy, then walked through Kensington Market, more of a bohemian neighborhood. All the walking in the sun wore us out! Steve got to enjoy a lot of relaxing this evening and Father's Day wishes from all three kids!
