School ended and summer started. It is time to travel. Me and my dad were going to go got New York to watch a soccer game that would have either USA or Brazil or both playing. But, in order for USA to play in NYC Colombia had beat or tie Costa Rica. But, Costa Rica won. In order for Brazil to play in NYC, they had to beat or tie Peru, one of the worst soccer teams in South America. But, Peru beat Brazil by one goal because of a hand ball, which was counted as a goal. So.....my dad sold the soccer match tickets, and we just went to New York.
It was a 3 hour flight to New York, but once we got there we took a bus ride to Penn Station and walked a couple blocks to our hotel,
The Gregory . We then changed into our Polish Lewandowski jerseys, to watch the Poland v Germany game at a bar called Legends. It was a good game but it ended 0-0.
Then we went back to the hotel and changed to our USA jerseys, put on our fake tattoos to watch the USA
game. We went to a bar called
Jack Demseys where we knew that the American Outlaws would be (big USA fans). When the game started the bar was packed so we were lucky that we got there early and had a table. Everyone was doing all the USA soccer chants very loud. In the first half, Clint Dempsey scored a goal. People went crazy and beer went everywhere. In the second half I was practically asleep since we woke up at 500am and it was already after 1030pm, but I kept on watching. It also helped that USA scored another goal so it got crazy again. But then Ecuador scored a goal and the bar went quiet. But, then it started to get loud again, especially once they won the game. Then we went home.
The next morning, it was time to watch the 3rd soccer game in 24 hours. We went to an Italian restaurant that someone at the USA game recommended to watch the Italy and Sweden game. Of course, I was rooting for Italy since I was born in Italy. It started at 900am, and the restaurant was not usually open at that time, but
they gave out croissants and coffee for people who were hungry. The first half was good, but no goals were scored. But during the second half, Italy did score and that was the end of the game.
Then we took a subway to the One World Trade Center. Before we went there, we got pizza. The pizza was very good, I had pepperoni and pasta pizza, which had pasta as topping. Then we saw the memorial pools where the Twin Tours were. Then we went to the One World Trade Center. First there were videos of the builders talking about how cool it was to build it. Then there was the elevator which was the 3rd fastest elevator in the world to get to the top of the building. When we got to the top, there was a little video and when it was done, the video screen went up and you saw the whole view of New York City. Then we walked around and took pictures of the city. It was really fun and the views were beautiful. Then we went down the elevator and sat on a bench to decide what we were going to
do next.
We decided to go up to Times Square to go to Ripley's Believe it or not and Madame Tussaud's. Ripley's Believe It Or Not was about worlds records and unbelievable things from all over the world. Some of my favorites were the 2 trunked elephant, the fattest person ever, and a lot of illusions. Then we went to Madam Tussaud's which is where there were a bunch of was statues of people. My favorite wax statues were Jimmy Fallon, Hulk, Rihanna, Taylor Laudner, and Kim K.
That night we went to this great Ethiopian restaurant called
Injera , which I tried for the first time. It was very good. It was very fun eating with my hands, because I cannot do that all the time even though I want to. Then we went back to the room and watched the Peru v Colombia game which we had tickets too but sold. It was 0-0 and went into penalty kicks and Colombia won.
The next day, me and my dad went to the Natural History of Museum. We got there very early and it took no time to get in.
We mammals from North America first. We then watched a 3D movie about US Natural Parks. It was a really cool movie seeing a lot of national parks including some that I have been to like Yellowstone, Glacier, and Everglades. We went to many other exhibits such as African and Asian peoples and animals. We also short movie about space, stars, and the universe. We ended with exhibits on meteors and gems/rocks
That night we ate Korean food which was very good. It was my first time. The waitress cooked meat in front of us and we also ate my dad's favorite spicy rice cakes. It was the second time in 2 days that I got to eat with my hands. Then we went back to the room.
The final morning we woke up later than usual, got ready and went down to meet Ania's mother for lunch. It was good to see Ania's mom, Janina. We said our goodbyes and left to the airport. It was a very good trip to do with my dad. Even though we went there to see a soccer game and did not see one, it was still
My Head in a Jar
Ripley's Believe it or Not a lot of fun. New York is a great place and you really cannot do it all in 3 days. My next trip is with Ania and Dad to Rome, London, Ukraine, and mostly Poland.
