Sunset in Denham
Sunsets never cease to leave me amazed and in awe do nature.Having enjoyed three beautiful days in Jurien, it was time to move on to Dongara. Fishing in Jurien had been less than satisfactory, so now my attention was on Dongara and what might be. Spending sometime with a local who seemed to know all the tricks, I set forth to fish on the platform on the marina. Yes I was not alone, but I baited up and before long I caught my first Tailor. I was quite excited reeling it in, however, I had to throw back the catch as it was undersize. This did not dampen my spirits too much and before long another bite and after much reeling in I had caught a lovely full size Tailor- earmarked for breakfast of course. Tailor are such fun to catch and then cooked on the Webber for breakfast next morning accompanied by eggs and toast with coffee was a dream.
Dongara has many attractions other than fishing and we spent the next day exploring the town and what it has to offer. I was particularly interested in the Priory hotel, which was built in the 1800s and then later purchased by a group of very courageous women who set up
a Dominican Priory and late in 1907 added a college for girls called Dominican Ladies College. The sisters were very innovative in Education and provided the girls with a very progressive learning environment. Unfortunately, the College was built right on the Irwin River, and flooding was always a problem when the river broke its banks. So in 1972 the College was closed much to the disappointment of these incredibly resilient Nuns all the way from Ireland.
Dongara is a very upmarket town and has much to offer the holiday maker. The beaches are pristine and there are beautiful homes all around. The Caravan Park we stayed in was lined with Boganvillia displaying all the colours of the rainbow and once again we were afforded ocean views at very little cost. Skye had lovely beach walks where she could explore and be free. Oh what a dog's life it is! Michael and me also enjoyed strolling here and there and just soaking up the Good Life!

Notice you have a dog. How did that factor into your plans? Did you encounter many restrictions at camper van parks?
