Tuesday 8 December continued
We had a quiet afternoon and eventually took a walk at 7.30 pm.
When we return from our cruise on the 20th, we needed accommodation for that night in Brisbane and then we havr a hire car pick up the next day.
The hire car we had organised a while ago, but not the accom.
Once we found out the location of the rental place, which is five minutes walk from our current hotel, we tried to book a night in here as it is really nice, but because they are big apartments and take a lot of cleaning they charge a high rate for one night stays, we knew we could find somewhere else cheaper, which is what we did.
The evening walk took us to the actual car rental place so we knew where it was and then on to our next hotel, which is in the vicinity.
Our stroll then continued along the riverside walk looking at the christmas lights on Story Bridge and avoiding the cyclists.
We didn't stop anywhere tonight and were back to the apartment at 8.30 pm.
Wednesday 9 December
Main
task for the day, return the hire car.
We had a good undisturbed nights sleep and woke at 7.30 am.
The car was due back to Brisbane airport by 12.00 pm and was 20 or so kilometres away.
We set off at 9.30 and found our way with no problem. The hire car was dropped off with no fuss and we headed into the domestic terminal to get the train back.
2242 kilometres completed on this leg of the journey.
The train from the airport to Brisbane Central was AUS$34.00 for 2 adults, it seemed a slow journey but it was nice to look out of the window at the world going by.
We took a break at the Collective kitchen & bar for some breakfast on the way back, as it was just after 11 am.
Pat ordered an eggs benedict with a latte and I had scrambled eggs, bacon and toast, with an English breakfast tea, AUS$41.00. Scrummy.
Then on to Woolworths and back to the apartment at 12.30 pm.
The afternoon was spent completing chores and getting ready for our cruise departure tomorrow.
Once we had done our washing and ironing and Pat had stopped tripping the electricity in the apartment with the iron - we ended up with a new one from reception - it was 4 pm ish. So we decided to head out for walk. We went down to the riverside and strolled to the Botanical garden, which was lovely to walk around.
There were loads of people out on cycles, jogging, walking and generally wandering about.
On the way back we stopped in The Coffee Club for our dinner. Pat had a chicken risotto and I had a Meat on Meat Pizza. Just what the Doctor ordered.
Then back to the apartment at 7 pm.
We are on a ten day South Pacific cruise from Brisbane tomorrow so access to internet and communications may be sporadic.
