Day 29 - flying solo in Delhi

I got up at about 7am, it's strange not having Helen snoring away in the other bed! I got ready and went in for breakfast. Hmmm... The room is full of men only, that seems strange after all my previous breakfast experiences. All men, and no Helen to chat to!

No worries, I get on with getting some cornflakes, toast and jam, I even managed a black tea, although he did have to get it specially for me. It's not so regular here. It's all about the very sugary, very milky chai!

The man at the hotel desk has offered to get me a SIM card sorted for my phone. It's no quite so simple here as it has been everywhere else, they need a copy of my passport, and a photo too, luckily, I still have one left! The guy takes me out to a shop. It actually took two visits, but we got there in the end! I now have Internet, but I think I will need to top up very soon as I don't seem to have much. I am meeting Ankur later, so will ask him for help with it!

I have a few hours to pass so am getting a tuk tuk to see the India Gate. I didn't get here last time, so it's worth the effort.

The hotel man got me a tuk tuk, with advice of not letting the driver take me anywhere else, and with a set price off 100 rupees. Advice taken, off I go.

I did deviate a little from the advice, as I asked him to drop me off at a coffee shop, then I'll walk from there to the gate. I managed to do both successfully!

The gate is really busy, the sweat is absolutely pouring off me! I did have a thought when I was with Helen; I do wish we could sweat fat, rather than water, I'd soon be skinny, but that's just not how it is! Nice thought though!

Being a minority westerner, it doesn't take long before the photos start.... Lol, nothing changes! But I don't mind, I got a pic too!

After mulling around at India gate, I can see
Secretariats buildings, both North and South block, and I think it is the Prime Ministers, or Royal house, in the far distance. I've got plenty of time, I think I'll walk it!

Oh, that was a long walk! Constantly being stopped by tuk tuks, they just didn't get that I wanted to walk!

After that, I really do need a cold coffee, so I continued to Connaught Place, Starbucks! Ohhhh, how I needed that!

After a much needed, air-con rest, I set off to walk around Connaught Place. I did the full circle! I've certainly done a lot of walking today! I think I have burnt quite a few calories off, the only problem with that is that I have just replaced them with ice-cream coffees!

I got a tuk tuk to return to the hotel to meet with Ankur. Oh, it was so good to see him again! He's so skinny. It's been nearly 8 months since I saw him last, he told me it's because of the trekking in Ledak! He does look well. We chatted for a while, then arranged to meet on the roof top later for drinks.

I went up to the room for a shower and meet Anna, my roommate. She seems lovely. She's 21 years old. Due to doing my own thing this afternoon, I completely missed the first introduction meeting. I couldn't believe it!

Met with Anu, the CEO, he seems ok too. He is very passionate about his job, country and culture, in the same wat Ankur is, so that is a bonus! We are meeting at 7pm for our first meal. It was a nice meal, the group got on well. We all peeked a bit more back, allowing each other to the next layer of getting to know each other.

After the meal, we all went onto the rooftop, agh, I did enjoy spending time partying with Ankur again! There was quite a group of us. Our group, Ankur and Anu, Rags, another CEO who is in between trips, then two other groups with their CEOs. People started to peel off from about 12ish. Lisa and Berie were sensible, they left at about one

I have to miss the rest out because Ankur encouraged me to drink with Anna, Lisa and Bernie, but it was worth it!

I loved meeting up with, and spending quality time with Ankur! It was so good spending time together again, and Rags was certainly drinking on the level as Ankur. So he had his input into what turned out be a great night xxx

Anna and I were telling Ankur and Rahs about the current trends of facial hair and monytails. Rags has a tash! A big one .... And Ankur now has a Monytail, they were both very happy to be considered current! Lol

The party continues.... Manyana! Who knows what's gonna happen ..!!!!
