Day 28 - good bye Helen and Siem Reap - Hello India!
Ahhhh ..... Today is a bitter sweet day. Helen flies back home, I go on to Delhi, India to start phase 2 of my trip.
No rushing today, as it is a long travelling day for us both. We started with a hearty breakfast in the hotel. Then back to the room to pack.
Helen is taking all my shopping home with her, and some other bits. She has been carrying these since the accident so that I could manage to keep going, I couldn't have done it without her! Her carrying my extra to keep me light hassle a huge difference for me.
I am so used to being on my own, but now I've got used to travelling with Helen, so it will be a huge change for me. I'll miss having her around.
She wouldn't go anywhere without her handbag, I hate a handbag so just put my crap into hers, now I'll have to carry my own crap!
She liked being the kitty holder, I did have to din in now and again to help her pay here and
there, but she always had it ready! Now I'll have to sort my own payments out!
She was often my voice of reason, when in doubt. Now, I'll just do it regardless!
She always put the kettle on for tea, I can never be bothered! But I always enjoyed the cuppa!
As you can see, there are only a couple of examples, there are so many more ways that I will miss her company!
All packed, off to Costa for our final Siem Reap coffee!
When we returned, Pros was already there and waiting for us. As usual, he was early, but that suited us, we had got to the stage where we were ready to go. Off we set to the airport.
We were both quiet most of the way, with the odd memory popping up in random bits of conversation. As we both agreed, we seem to have been away for a long time, yet where has that time gone?
When we arrive, my flight is already checking in. There are lots of building world being done, do the checking area is really cut down on size. That's a good thing,
as I was worrying about Helen getting sorted, bit on seeing the set up, she will be fine. There are only about 15 desks in a stale sight line, so she can't really go wrong!
I would have preferred her flight to go first, then I would have felt better, but it is what it is, so she'll be ok. Helens biggest worry was that she will probably get fed about four times on the flights home.... And will she manage to eat it all. We both agreed that she would!
We put my bag in, went to the gate, yes, there were tears, but happy tears.
We've both had an amazing experience, and to have shared it made it even better. I think she's going home with a more confident approach to everything! The world really is her oyster now!
The first flight was about three hours. I didn't even get to see the end of the film!
The second flight was already boarding whilst I was still on the first flight. I had to run through Kuala Lumpur airport in order to get to the check in, and it's huge! It involved s
metro train from section A to section C! Obviously, I did make it in time. This flight was longer, no issues at all though.
On arriving at Delhi, I got cash as soon as I arrived, that gave my bag time to get through. I managed ok with the one arm lift that I have been practicing, straight for the pre-paid taxi. It's definitely the best way to go, as it's fair pricing. $10 for the taxi, and I'm on my way again.
The taxi driver struggled to read the address as its in English, but he stopped off and shed someone else. We arrived at the the hotel quite quickly. The cheeky bloke asked me for a $5 tip, he had no chance!
I'm in the room, showered and sorted, looking forward to phase 2 starting tomorrow.
