Stettler is a bustling town of 5,700 lying roughly between Calgary and Edmonton in rural Alberta. We spent four nights there with my oldest brother Berny and his wife Dawn, who organized a family get-together with my other three remaining brothers and various nephews, nieces and small fry.

We spent an afternoon hiking at Scenic Sands, a resort community, where we came upon a prolific copse of plump, juicy Saskatoon berries. What a find! We gorged ourselves and rubbed our sore tummies afterwards.

Coming from a family of five brothers, get-togethers are always boisterous, noisy and lots of fun. I managed to lose almost every beanbag game I played but won one very long game of Tok, our favourite board game, under the shade of a mountain ash. We were fed till we thought we would burst, laughed till we hurt and filled our family cups. Who knows when we'll all be together again. I'm keeping this one in my memory and in my heart.

Same title, different movie
Week-end at Bernies the movie was funny. Your title reminded me of that movie, and as I was reading the blog and you said you came across a copse of berries I read corpse.. Thankfully not quite true..

From the McClellands Down Under
What a great weekend you had with your family. First time for years I've seen pictures of Berny, Don, and Barry. They were only 20 somethings when I last saw them. Berny looks well. If I recall correctly Aaron was just a baby last time I saw him in 1976. He was following you around the house yelling Eileen Eileen. Memories!!!!! Brittany was expecting her first when we visited in 2012. We have a bean bag game as well. We haul it out at all family functions. Brother Jim got the dimensions from your dad and it has now found it's way down under. I have had many people come up and ask if they can take photos of it when we've played the game at the local park at the beach. Yummmm the Saskatoons--- remember going with G&G Gellings to the Red Deer River to pick them. Think I've worked out what I was doing wrong in responding to your blogs. Will know if you respond to this one.

Good Memories Indeed
I didn't realize how long it had been since you saw everyone. I remember that when we picked saskatoons with Grandma and we were out of sight for too long, she would sing "woo hoo" until we sang it back. Glad to hear that the bean bag game is s hit down under too!
