We picked up our friend Eva from the Portland airport today. She will be visiting with us for a week. It's really nice to see our friends again! We went to the Japanese garden, which they claim is one of the most authentic outside of Japan. It was a vey peaceful place to be and the detail put in the plants, walkways and art was amazing. They will be having a moon ritual tonight so they raked a little gravel garden in a special way, it took a specialist 2 days to do it. After that, we went to the nearby rose garden which was very very impressive. There were several hundreds of different kinds of roses arranged in endless fragrant patterns. The vibrant perfume and colors kept us there quite a while! Afterwards we decided it was fun time! We went on a Jet Boat tour on the river. Well... it was 1/2 fun, 1/2 educational. These things go close to 50 miles per hour which makes it a lot of fun... especially when the captain turns the wheel all the way to one side while going full speed! Talk about getting splashed as the boat does a 360 on itself!
