North to Alaska

Start and end in Vancouver

North to Alaska, with the bikes loaded into a 40 foot container, our next adventure is becoming a reality.

We had a short notice to get the bikes to the shippers, as there have been a lot of delays at the Vancouver end and we felt we were not leaving enough time to clear the bikes when we arrived, so the decision was made to ship a week earlier...that chucked the cat amongst the pigeons as it were, as some riders hadn't fitted their new tyres and others needed to finalise serving, packing etc.

In the end we all made it on time and got the container loaded with no fuss, thanks to all the help from the team.

Howard and Gerardo excused.

We have 13 people heading North to Alaska, arriving in Vancouver on 26th July to recover our motorcycles and prepare for the big ride north up to Prudhoe Bay in Alaska and back to Vancouver.
So, at this stage these are the riders, riding the Klondike Loop, North to Alaska:

Howard Clement from Whangarei, riding his Dijit DR650 Howard has been on a High Andes with

us before.
Jack Scheres from Putaruru, riding his trusty 650 BMW, Jack had done the High Andes and the Patagonia with us.
Lawrence Tingle from Auckland, riding his Triumph Tiger. This is Lawrence’s first adventure with us - so, welcome Lawrence.
Peter and Julie Hayes from Paihia are joining us on their Harley Davidson Tourer and will take the paved roads. This is also their first adventure with us.
Trevor and Kim Heighway from Warkworth, they will be riding a BMW 1200 GS. Trevor came with us on the TranzAmerica Trail a few years ago, they will continue down through Mexico with us on the BIG Ride South of the Border.
Grahame (String) Irvine from Auckland, will ride his BMW 1150 GS and will continue with us down South of the Border. String has done many rides with us over the years and we have had some great adventures together.
Gerardo, from Punta Arenas in Chile will be riding his BMW 1200 GS that we have shipped in our container to Vancouver for him. The BIG Ride was his dream, so now the dream is unfolding for him…and us!

Loop and on the BIG Ride South of the Border.
Radar (Gavin Campbell) and his partner Nikki will join us on the Klondike Loop, riding their Harley Davidsons.
Wayne Warren, from Auckland will take up the Chase Truck Challenge and drive the support truck for us.

So, that is 13 adventures heading up to Prudhoe Bay on the Klondike Loop Adventure.

After shipping the bikes back to New Zealand from Vancouver, for those returning, the rest of us will regroup in Harlingen Texas, around the 1st of October before heading down through Central America, Panama, Columbia etc and our final destination of Puerto Williams (or Rio Moat), beyond Ushuaia.

Joining us in Harlingen will be:

Geoff Burt from Inglewood (well sort of!) riding his new KLR 650 that we will ship to Vancouver for him.
Victor Smart from Anchorage, Alaska will also join us there riding a BMW, not sure which model yet? Victor has not ridden with us before, but sorta knows the way….
Roger Kersch from Tennessee will also meet there. he will be riding a BMW 650. I met Roger on my first adventure in South America in 2005 and ran into him in Chile a few years later.

So, that brings everyone onto the same page as far as who we are all riding with.

For those of you that are on FaceBook, I will be updating Rosco's Rocky Road FaceBook Page on a more regular basis than the Blog, but I will post the link to the Blog on the faceBook page also.

So, let the Adventure begin......

Cheers.

Rosco

Hi Rosco, have a wonderful trip. It will probably be easier at borders than you've had in the past. Thank you for taking us on this 'virtual' adventure.
