We arrived at the airport and were very excited about our flight over the island of Kauai until we were told we had to be weighed in! Now we have been on a cruise for 88 days so I was nervous because the clothes are not fitting the way they did. Fortunately only the office person sees the results and after doing her calculations we were told that collectively we were fine. After a big sigh of relief we were on our way.
What a thrill to see this most unusual and beautiful island from the air. There is a stretch of shoreline that can only be seen by air or boat and it was breathtaking. We flew for an hour and snapped photos like crazy as we oohed and aahed.
Back on the ground, the six of us rented a mini-van and Bob drove us to the beach and here and there to see the scenery. We stopped at a wonderful deli that did not disappoint for lunch.
We had to be back at the ship by 3:30 so it was a quick trip with enough time for Jerry to restock his beer supply.
As we
bid goodbye to Hawaii to spend five days at sea, I have to say my favorite island is this one!
Aloha!
