Jinhua Aiqing Cultural Park 金华艾青文化公园 and Jinhua Architecture Park 金华建筑艺术公园
For the first time in a long while you the reader get to join me on an exploration of Jinhua. At the beginning of June I and my friend mike who came to visit me from my hometown in Canada. W went out to explore the wonders of the city. Our first stop was to be the "wanXiang Flower Tourist Park" being that we had gone to see this on a Tuesday. We had started our small day adventure by having lunch at FeiRock, a local western style restaurant, close to where Mike and I live. After which, we had found ourselves a taxi and was off to the races. Along with Mike, there were 3 companions with us. Princess, as most would know joins me on some of my adventures, a new companion, "Bubbles" and mikes travel companion/guard dog "Brutus".
The driver knew of the place but was unfamiliar on how to get there. So after phoning and getting directions, we were on a roll. We got to see the beautiful scenery of the area of Jinhua I never had
the chance to see before. After many twist and turns we had finally reached our destination. Sadly, it was closed and only opens on the weekends, so we had to turn back to the city. We had chosen our second stop to visit. His one the driver knew all to well. A famous spot of the city, a beacon of light sort of speak.
The Jinhua aiqing cultural park and the Jinhua Architecture Park. So from our starting point to where we actually ended up cost us close to 120 Yuan in taxi fairs. But the opportunity to see the breathtaking sites of the city was well worth it. I admit the landscape around the flower tourist park was stunningly beautiful.
So we finally made to the Aiqing Park, on the way the taxi driver had mentioned that I had put the wrong district down so I made a quick note of that in my notebook. We were enjoying ourselves at this point seeing the city.
Jinhua Aiqing Cultural Park had been around for about ten years. Remarkable on how the view of the area was. W had exited the cab
on one side of the Yiwu River and started walking around the see the beauty of nature within the city. As we walked along the path that overlooked the Yiwu River, we could see for miles. If we had decided to walk back to our area we would have seen other areas that Mike and I had seen previously. The Aiqing Park is part of the much larger Bing Hong Park most of which Mike had seen on his own as well as with myself present. Anyways, we slowly made our way down this side of the river taking in the majestic scenery of the park. Snapping photos whenever we could. There were a few spots where I brought out Princess to have her photo taken. The first being just after arriving with a view of the Architecture Park that was across the river view. Another was the view of the bridge down river. This being near the beginning of the view of this serene park. As we continued down the path snapping shots and talking comparing notes and different ideas and what not. Both Mike and I agreed that the beautiful sites that surround us would not be found
back home. That the parks we see here are part of the planning of the city and not some late addition to the city planning.
This is something that most cities back home can learn from. So, with the sun high in the sky on this a clear day with the sky a brilliant blue which is a rarity around here but not unwelcome bright spot. Places like this never seem to amaze me, the greenery of nature abound. A respite, of the hustle and bustle of city life to find some peace among the city. Looking across the river seeing another park which at the time I was adamant that it was part of the same park just on the other side of the river and now my reluctance admittance its sister park. As we walked up a spiral staircase to the bridge looking over and seeing the true extent of the river. It wasn't until much later on, well after Michael had left for his own journey here in China that I was at another part of Jinhua and saw yet another part of the Yiwu River. Coming down on the other side of the
river walking up we encountered a group of university students that were student Architecture and we spoke for a while we looked around at the different structures from the different places. As we walked with the group of students Michel had fallen behind and snapped a few photos of the group with me among them. It was enjoyed to speak with the students to help them with their English. Seeing the sites of the Architecture Park was an amazing view to see the thoughts and visions of these people brought to life. The different and varying views of people from all over the world was indeed an experience to behold. Seeing both parks on opposite sides of the YiWu River was a comforting and relaxing time and seeing a portion of the city in a short time was a comforting thing. Having Michel here help me rekindle the lust of exploring and getting myself out of the rut that I had been in for much of the time I was here in Jinhua. For that I am grateful. As we neared the end of the park we had spoke about if we walked the remainder of the length along the
bank of the river and we surmised that if we would return to an area that we were familiar with. But sadly on this particular we didn't have the time to do so. We also noticed a large structure off in the distance that from our vantage point looked like a large metal rabbit, but as we neared it we realized it wasn't. We had gotten to the road at the end of the park and there was two ways to get across, the first being to cross the street which I opted to do and the other was to take the underpass that went under the bridge which Michel took. He had taken some photos as he went under and as I waited for the traffic to lighten up enough for me to cross. We decided to end our day there and head back to his hotel and of course have dinner at a Chinese restaurant. I must say it was a nice relaxing day of doing something and seeing the wondrous sights of the city up until recently I had viewed as not having a lot to offer in the way of sightseeing.
