Vienna - Part I

This album is mostly just my friends and I in Vienna, and not enough of the city itself. I have been putting off going around and trying to photograph all the beautiful parts of the city because that would be very difficult. However, I have found some quite interesting things around here and the photos should give some kind of a glimpse into what weve been up to lately.

Photos

Boar Hunting
This first series is of Eric and I going boar hunting. Boar hunting is greater than most types of hunting because the hunter uses a specialized spear rather than a rifle, so the animal has a fighting chance. Pun intended. We are located in an area in the 14th district called the Lainzer Tiergarten, where animals basically run around as they feel the need to, and people can go jogging and stuff.

BA DAAAA! This guy was huuuge. Every time he ran towards someone I was sure that goring was going to commence. But he seemed quite friendly.

Futteln Sie die Tiere nicht.
It reads: Not stickmeadow (?) wild boars - feeding is daily at 2:00 PM. Feeding the Wild Boars is dangerous and hence, not allowed.

Politics!
The Wahlkampf (lit. "vote fight" i.e. "election) is going on right now. This is a sign for the Communist Party of Austria. It reads roughly "Balance instead of power to the rich" and "the Scissors must be closed!"

vandalism
This was a poster for the FPO the Freidom Party of Austria. They are the ultra right wing party here. Hence the vandalism.

Remnants of the Wall.
This is Daniel posing with a part of the city wall from the middle ages. It is now subterranean, and leaking into an U-Bahn station.

This is Alia and I modelling with the Wall.

Daniel, destroyer of worlds.
This is a model of the Medieval city of Vienna. Daniel is looming over it, striking fear into the townsfolk.

Ice Cream of the People
Situated before a monument for the working man and communism in general, Daniel defiantly lifts his ice cream to the heavens....

Albertina at night
For some reason, the Albertina looks cool at night. This picture shows the building the Albertina (a museum), and the glass building built up next to it that is a butterfly garden and coffee house.

Heurigen!
Heurigen! This is something that is (for some reason) the big thing in Vienna. It's called Heurigen (which means something like "this year's" and its wine thats under a year old that everyone is thrilled to spend a lot of money on and drink from mugs. It's actually not too bad, if you like your wine as sweet as honey. This would be a few of my friends and I. It also is a demonstration of why there are not more pictures of me.

Zach had a birthday party at a Kareoke joint, and Chordan takes the stage.

Boars rock
From a vegan point of view, I think its great that only spears are allowed to hunt the boars. Otherwise, is there a lot of goring going on? Maybe you can lure some other exchange student out to the boar woods with you and ask him or her to get a really close picture of the boar, and perhaps increase the chances of you seeing the boar gore a human. I am sure it happens all the time, but getting some video of this would be supreme.
