The flight..

The way there...

Sooo.. Yesterday we left for our 3 1/2-months-trip from Schiphol. Surprisingly we had very little trouble with the traffic on the way there.. Hmm, would this mean luck would accompany us on our trip? My answer to that now can be sort: no!

It started already at the check in. We were told we didn't have any seats assigned, cause the plane had been overbooked and we were on standby.. Awesome. I know airlines tend to do such things, but I never really experienced it this way.. We had only like 1 1/2 hrs to transfer on London to our 2nd flight to Bangkok, so not being on this flight might mean we wouldn't even make it to Bangkok in one day. Great start. Emma was surprised I stayed that calm, but haha, I've been through more such things in the last year, you get used to it. So we decided just to wait and see how it turns out. 10 minutes until official departure time we didn't hear anything, then we suddenly got told we had a seat anyway. Yippeaaaa!!!

Okay, cheered to early. Next problem. Although we asked in Amsterdam whether there were any special restrictions on hand luggage (they told us not unless we had to go to the US), we still experienced problems wen we arrived at heathrow. No liquids, no make up, nothing. Aiks. We had all that in out hand luggage. When we asked whether we could still make it to check in an extra piece of luggage, they told us that would be no problem. That was very positively expressed, to put it carefully, We ran through the airport, asked everywhere very politely if we could please skip the huge line (we had to first go out through customs, then back in trough customs, and then check in luggage) and eventually begged the people from the airline if they could still find a way to put the bag in the already closed flight. And even now we only made it in the last sec. So much for the British ' no problem' .

The flight itself was pretty okay.. I even slept a bit. And the food was really not too bad for airplane food, so no complaints at all. There was only one litte surprise left. At Bangkok airport we discovered the first 2 bags we checked in weren't there.. After asking around they told us we should have should our luggage tags in Londin, otherwise they wouldnt send the bags on the flight.. Great that someone told us about that.. Grrr.. At A'dam they even mentioned we wouldn't have to worry about the transfer of the luggage..

But okay... Enough negativity. Bangkok is really awesome, quite an experience. I'll tell more about it asap!!

Love,
Naomi
