"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." - Jeremiah 29 v 11

We recently received a parcel in the post from special friends in Hastings. They had arranged for UK based Pam Nickson to send us a copy of her new book, her first book, 'Words Behind the Picture'. Pam is a committed Christian and the book details her life including her struggles and how God has not only directed but inspired her art and the writing of this book. It's a great read with fantastic pictures of Pam's art work. If you are interested in finding out more about Pam, her book or her art have a look at Pam's web site www.nicksonarts.com you won't be disappointed.

Well we are now well into February and whatever snow we were going to receive has come and gone. We were teased on a couple of occasions as snow fell gently covering the buildings and cars but melted as it hit the wet ground. Parts of the UK did receive heavy snow falls but we received very little. The weather, although still cold, has turned 'drab' with dull days and an expectation of rain. Temperatures have crept up to 5/8 degrees.

We are now looking forward to spring and the new life it brings.

As our flat is on the first floor we do not have a garden, however we do have a large courtyard out the back. We have purchased two 4 shelf grow houses, one will hold potted colour and the other herbs and lettuces 'WE HOPE', given that our previous attempts at gardening have been a disaster. We have also purchased a window box for the kitchen and two plant pots for Rhododendron. Together they should all give some colour and life to a plain concrete area.

After Sunday 15th February's service in St Chads school room Jess had the opportunity to see inside St Chads and see where the renovations were up to. The new concrete floor is now in and the wooden flooring will be laid down on top when it has dried out. The chancel tiling will be refurbished, the font re sited and the pulpit lowered. The ceiling will be cleaned and the walls repainted. The new pews and chairs have been ordered. The interior work should be completed by 27th March. The exterior work to the church – pointing up masonry and re-tiling parts of the roof will take place in the warmer summer months.

God continues to fill our life with things that keep us very busy, especially with the growing variety of Church involvement. Evelyn has settled in to her shifts at the Cedars Care Home as a Housekeeper and Jess is spending time learning to 'Ring Those Bells' at St Mary's.

Strange bed fellows
Dear Sadie and Quasimodo, Sorry you missed the snow. A long wait till next try I suppose. Good to hear you are well and content. We're busy with grandchildren, drying prunes, apples, pears, tomatoes, robbing the bee hive, and watching the grand kids settle into school/secondary college. How quickly they grow. Also heading to West Oz on Thursday for a few weeks to be with Andrew, Julie ann, William and Xanthe, in Perth. All goes well at Holy Trinity. Keep ringing! Blessings, Don and Ruth.
