The Big Tent Oktobeerfest Cape Coral
I nabbed this one from the web site! We happened upon the Cape Coral's Oktoberfest from an ad in "The Pine Island Eagle," our entertainment bible when we camp here. The event is well organized and seems to be run by a huge cadre of volunteers in drindles and leiderhausen selling tickets (you can't use money to buy your brats and beers), cooking potato pancakes, pouring beer and wine and parking cars. It's an enormous effort held annually on the last two weekends of October. The German American Club owns the huge indoor/outdoor venue at 2101 Pine Island Road, Cape Coral. We've passed it often; but this was our first actual visit. The festival is crowded and raucous. If the hoi palloi bustle of the big tent or the large picnic area proves overwhelming; sit-down dinners are served in von Steuben Hall. The von Steuben menu includes schnitzel, sauerbraten, dumplings, noodles and red cabbage. Drooling yet? Check out the web site:
