Hello everyone! It is so nice to hear from everyone from afar!

Today I mastered the "Tube(s). Probably the easiest thing I have done since I've been here. Every route is color coded and you just swipe your Oyster card (a prepaid travel card...don't ask me why they call it that) and your off to any part of London you can imagine.

The tower of London houses the Queen's house guard and contains the crown jewels. It also has a historical armory, so you really do get to see knights in shining armour! It's unfortunate that the armour made them to heavy to get off their horses to rescue the damsel in distress. The damsel would do well to rescue her own self! But it is interesting to see how much history England has. As one man said to an American History teacher..."So, what do you do after your hour and a half course is done?" I hope I got that joke right.

The second half of the day I went to Regent Street near Picadilly Circus. And it was a circus. Lot's of people shopping. All the brand names on one street. A shopper's paradise. I went into Liberty of Londons and looked at....yes....fabric. They actually have a floor for fabric. At $22.00 a yard, it wasn't my kind of fabric anyway. I did find a needlepoint kit I liked, but out of my price range of 150 pounds. 1 pound equals approximately $1.75. Yikes.

I am having a terrible time trying to upload photos on this site, but I will try again tonight.

Tomorrow I am off to Westminster Abbey and the British Museum. On the tube of course! It is my last full day in London and I am off to the English Countryside. One thing is for sure, I am getting used to have a pint of beer over lunch. It's quite nice actually.

Talk to you again soon!

Lori

Rescue Yourself
So the damsel would do well to rescue her own self! I got a kick out of that, for many reasons. Glad to hear you figured out the tube, and the joys of beer at lunch while on vacation. Have you met anyone interesting? What did you think of the crown jewels? Have you seen any antiques you'd like to bring back home?

Hi Billy! No antiques....yet. Going to look around the small villages today and see what I can find. The English people are very dower...they never smile and everyone smokes....not for me :o) The food has been wonderful though....vegatarian has so far been very easy. Hugs.

Absorbing it all in...
Living vicariously thru your travels, Lori....taking notes since we'll be there in a few weeks, ourselves. I'm particularly interested in your adventures report in the English countryside. Hope that you're able to post pics soon! xo TeresaRO

What about a show
Don't leave without picking up a show. Head to TKTS in Leicester Square or if you don't have time you can do it online at http://londonshow.entstix.com (if the show doesn't have a deal by it then don't book it as they charge a fee for the rest). You can get some great deals tonight for shows like Phantom, The Commitments or Billy Elliot. Have fun and enjoy "the countryside" tomorrow!
