Day 11 - 10th August

We spent another day in Rwanda just chilling out which was so nice as all the early mornings and jam-packed days are great but it's good to have some time of your own sometimes.

Day 12 - 11th August

Before we left Rwanda, we paid a visit to the Rwandan genocide museum which was so moving. We learnt of all the horror stories of the innocent Tutsi men, women and children who were raped, tortured and murdered in the 90's. The site was also home to over 200,000 of the one million graves that currently exist. They are still discovering and identifying bodies even today. It was incredibly sad. Difficult to comprehend though - how can anyone justify taking part and believing that what they were doing was right and why did others like the UN not respond? As we left Rwanda, we noticed groups of people in the streets who we were later told had probably been injured in the massacre - fingers/limbs missing, machete injuries, bullet wounds. So sad.

Back on the truck, we had a long drive before we finally crossed the border back into Uganda.

Day 13 - 12th August

Another long drive day today :-( We drove across Uganda from Mbarara to Kempala. The weather so far has always been warm but it seems to rain late afternoon most days, just when we have to put the tents up! That, combined with the fact that it's slightly humid means that we carry our newly washed wet and soon smelly again clothes around for days, in the hope that one day they might dry! However, today it finally hot! Pity we were stuck on the truck most of the day! Hope it stays that way!

Did manage to escape the truck for a short while to go to a local drum market. Dad and Andrew - there may be a large-ish package arriving shortly!

We went out for dinner tonight in Kempala - for a Chinese - can't believe we found one! AND we were actually served by a Chinese person. It was so nice we had to carry on the evening at a casino. I played Roulette and Pontoon and came out 10,000 up!!! Don't get excited, that's only about 20US$!

Day 14 - 13th August

Took a trip to Ngamba Island today on a boat to see a Chimpanzee sanctuary. The trip was really long, it was expensive, we only got to see the chimps for half an hour and I got sunburnt. Not a great experience but we had a goat roast in the evening which made it all better again!

H is still looking for a new job, but they have found a new house. I'm sure H and M will tell you all about it. Love you, Jen p.s as much as we love your travel blog, shouldn't you spend less time typing and more time sightseeing???!!!! Who knew there were so many internet cafes in Africa!!!
