PURPLE PUBPURPLE PUBPURPLE PUB

The famous Purple Pub
We spent a few weeks just taking our time crossing the Savannah Way, we planned to continue on from Normanton through to Bourketown then on to Darwin but, the last Cyclone had impacted on a number of the roads so the crossings of some creeks was impossible for us in our truck. The alternative was to detour 450 kilometres down to Cloncurry where we could again head west to our destination.

With all that set in stone we headed to Normanton for lunch then on to the Prawn capital of Australia as we were not going to pass these two up if we were being diverted, The purple pub is the main attraction of Normanton and to sit and have lunch and watch the thousands of Victorian caravans pass is amazing if not a little scary as we had avoided the mass throng so far on this trip.

There is a monument to the largest reported crocodile caught, the monster is 8 metres long and just absolutely huge, We headed to a rest area 40 ks north of Normanton to spend the night prior to Karumba, We would have been blown over with a feather to see a couple

Me with the Lifesize Model, I am Six foot Five or 192 cms in height. This thing is huge!
travelling with 4 camels and a buggy, Amazing what you see thats forsure.

Next day we roll into Karumba and are very happy to see a real bakery again, the last was at Ravenshoe ( thousand ks back ). We were quickly put in our place when we seen the prices... Kept us lean anyways, We shant go into a long winded diatribe of every bloody detail , suffice to say it is a fishing town a long way from anywhere and it has a massive Barramundi Industry.

We dont fish much and I dont even eat it, Jo on the other hand tells me that it was the best piece of fish she has ever eaten in her whole life. God i am missing out i think.

We stayed for 4 days then we headed off to get to our next destination, Check out the humble photos and leave us a comment coz we monitor the hits and no one says anything, feedback please.

please!!!!!!!!!!
