I am leaving in a week and a half for my trip and I wouldn't exactly say I am ready. I have been so busy with my PCC (port comm college)tech job, teaching, trying to see everyone before I leave, and dealing with a number of other issues with one of my many other jobs.

The trying to see everyone has kind of taken last priority, unfortunately, but I don't have a huge amount of friends up here in Portland anyway. Last weekend I went down to Klamath Falls for Dan Yoo and Tovi's wedding. It was great to see lots of my brother's old friends, but I was so sad he couldn't make it. Stupid Harvard 😞 I did get to spend a lot of time with Aileen and Jacob and Jonah before I left, which was fun. We went to Crater lake on Sat. Jonah knows my name now!

Anyway, here is my tentative itinerary, in case people are wondering. STA (student travel association) has really great tickets that you can change for $25, so who knows what will really happen. My tickets back to Portland are non-refundable, so that date (Jan 5) is pretty set.

Aug 21-22 Leave Portland, Arrive Tokyo Staying with Rich (former grad school lab mate) and his wife Junco. they live close to tokyo and i think we are going camping or backpacking at some point. then i will take off for my own and probably visit kyoto, hiroshima, the island of miyajima, which is the official "#1 most beautiful place in japan," and a city on the island of shikoku called matsuyama.

Sep 5 Arrive Delhi Doing community health type volunteer work with RUCHI (www.ruchin.org) in Himachal Pradesh (northern india).

Sep 21 Finish RUCHI program. i guess i will wander around northern india then. the place where my program is very close to where the dalai lama resides in exile, and some other cool places. hopefully i can also see the taj mahal and the ghats in varanasai where public cremations take place.

Oct 5(ish) Arrive Kathmandu I will volunteer with a program called VSN nepal (vsnnepal.org) at an orphanage there.

Nov 11. Arrive Bangkok. yeah. thats like three months away. i do want to see the beach, but i've been told to save that for last because i'll never want to leave. also want to see the angkor wat temple complex in cambodia, and i've heard great things about trekking in northern thailand.

Nov 29/30 Arrive Adelaide, Australia. Staying with my cousin Tweety (Isingyah) and her son Bhu. i'm very excited to meet bhu and meet all of tweet's friends and family, who i have heard so many great things about.

Dec 21 Arrive Kona. Staying with Kathleen and Jon (aunt and uncle). hopefully glen will be there too!

Jan 4 Arrive Oakland (this is the nonrefundable part😊). one entire day to spend with aileen or danica or christine or whoever is around then.

jan 5 back to portland three whole days before things start back up again at pcc. . .
