MONEY AND QUEUES

Arrived in Vegas mid morning the day of the Terrorist scare in London. As a result there were massive queues. Lucky for me they were all out bound. Unfortunately for the people in the queues they were hours and hours long, many people missing their flights. It was quite a site.

BTW also expect a mass out break of athletes foot (which may or may not have been planned by terrorists) for air travelers in the US as you are required to remove your shoes to pass through security at airports. So if you are traveling in the states you may wish to wear socks.

I cruised on the airport shuttle to the Rio where I was staying for the next three nights.
Rob my room mate was not until that evening so I had an afternoon to kill and a bag of dirty washing. I added up the cost of having the in house laundry service take care of it and it wasn't much shy of US$100. So it was on, a Laundromat mission. I walked up to the main strip across a few main roads as our Casino was a little off the main drag. I walked along taking photos of the magnificent themed Casinos. Stopped at Maccas for a feast and then onto the Laundromat I had found earlier in the phone book. Well what looked like 5 minutes on a map was in fact closer to an hour of trekking through the desert, back past the airport. This area seemed a little shady, but I had found my first Chinese Laundromat. $2 later and 45 minutes and my clothes were clean and dry. A man approached me asking if I had found his wallet and wasn't satisfied until I showed him inside my bag. I think he might have been looking for mine!!!! A pimp and his hoe popped in, a guy of around 50 rocked up in a new red Corvette with gangster music pumping and an outfit and limp/swagger to boot, a not so Slim Shady. Mean while a man won $400 dollars on a video poker game. While all this was going on the Chinese owner muttered profanities to no one in particular. Anyway, When I arrived there I had one thing in common with all these people, but not for long, my washing clean and I was out there. Caught the bus back to the strip which took less than 10 minutes and made my earlier walk seem rather pointless. It was time to stroll back to the room, kick back in the await the arrival of “Rob”.

I had never met Rob till this day, we met online at an internet dating webpage, Adultmatchmaker.com and after many steamy chat room sessions, we had both long awaited this meeting….. Ok Ok, not quite true. I’ll tell you a little about Rob. My main man Mick from the MGP (Mountain Gate Posse) got me in touch with him on email and Rob being the great guy he turned out to be, wasted no time and booked us into a very nice Casino at a great rate and extended the invite to come and kick at his pad in San Francisco. So until this day we had only ever spoken via email.

After chatting for a few hours, some friends of his arrived. We hung out in our room with a few drinks to fire us up before we headed out to take on the town.

The first place we hit very cool roof top club, Ghost Bar at the Palm’s Casino. The queue is on the ground floor and you then catch a lift to roof top (53rd Floor) where out side there is transparent floor over looking the pool area at ground level which gave you an eerie feeling when stood on. It also has great views of Vegas. After we had made the scene we cruised onto the next club, Rain where we took the dance floor by storm. The dance floor is elevated in the middle of an oval arena with bars elevated around the outside. Suspended above the dance floor are lights and these things that shot flames above our heads. Girls were swarming us trying to get in on our action but it was getting late and time retreat to head back to our pad and our respective King Size Beds.

Next day we hung out pool side where we were waited on by hotties in g strings. We ordered a bucked of Bud lites and shortly met an interesting young lady who said she was a cocktail waitress, but judging by her flexibility and her butt tenses she insisted on showing us, I believe her job description may be a little more erotic. Lunch time rocked on and to my delight the Rio has the biggest Buffet in Vegas and it was only $15 with voucher. There was about 300 meters of food. All the usual stuff but better and more plus Japanese, Chinese and Omelet bars where you select your own ingredients and they cook it up in front of you. The desert bar was about as big as the entire Sizzler Salad Bar. Other notable cuisines included sushi, the good old roast and Mexican. Sooooooo Good. Unfortunately we ran out of room in our bellies so we retired to our room to recharge the Batteries for another big night ahead of us.

In the early Evening Rob’s friends Samir arrived fro San Francisco. And then there were 3. We downed a bottle of jack between us in 30 minutes. Not a bad idea either as rounds add up quickly with drinks around US$14 each plus tip, you tip per drink. And this is after you pay reasonable entry US$10 - US$40 and then and Additional US$50 or so to jump queues. Then if you want a table you can pay $400 + which may or may not include a spirit bottle.

Headed by Taxi to the first Club..... Tryst, Wynn's new nightclub, got in with some grease to skip the queue. This place is very cool, half indoors / half outdoors with a water fall and lagoon. We boogied straight on the dance floor. Rob is a notorious dancer and I also have a few moves up my sleeve, so as you can imagine we made quite a scene. In fact I believe they had to call the fire brigade as we set that dance floor on fire.
and mingled, fending off girls left right and centre, made some friends who already had tables and spirits and got comfortable.

Some where along the way we lost Samir. Early in the morning we headed back to Rio
For a late night snack of nachos with steak served to us by the charming Hector. Man they were good. Back to the room shortly after this to crash, but was shortly woken
As Samir made his entrance, kinda dirty on us as we had apparently ditched him. So after he and Rob wrestled for some time it was back to sleep.

The next day we hung out pool side again before heading down the strip for shopping and then to back to that awesome Buffet. The weekend crowd was in and punters were being herded in to pens where they were left to queue and await their turn at the trough.
We were straight in as Rob is Platinum Member of Rio. We got to sit in Lavish booths while the common folk (those with out Platinum Cards) waited in a very long queues working up an appetite. Bloated we returned to our room.

Attempted to sleep but all too soon Rob was mustering us for one final assault on Vegas.
Now I had experienced the new part of Vegas, Rob now believed I was ready for the old part. My spirit was low. After 2 of the biggest nights of my life back to back we were required to back it up with another equally massive night.

I was feeling a bit flat, a bit tired, head ache, a bit hung over with the ache of last nights alcohol flowing through my veins. This was soon fixed with Rob’s secret weapon, The
Dead Man Walking. See pics of multi coloured drink in long glasses. You get drunk just holding it . I quickly discovered this was the red Neck Trailer Park of Vegas, the Mullets and flannelette shirt count was high while the number of people sporting front teeth was low.

Now Rob has a Girlfriend in Melbourne, but this didn’t stop this red blooded Aussie form Running the “Motor Boat” (motor boat is to go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr with your mouth while burying your face in something … ie. Transvestite cleavage, and moving your head side to side simultaneously) on some rather big and butch trannies. They were rather taken by him so much so that they both gave him a long stem rose, which for no apparent reason I was later beaten with.

It was time to hit the black jack tables. Rob and Samir are seasoned player, but this was only my second time at the tables since the dropping 50 euros on the cruise ship in the Greek Isles. I’m not much of a gambler but you can’t go to Vegas with out having a crack, and anyway, they serve you free drinks while you do. My luck fluctuated up and down. My $50 got down to $5 and then back up to $40 and then it was time to go all in. And in one hand I was up to $80. Stoked, that was enough for me. As we were leaving the casino we passed an old rock band to which we danced like maniacs. Check out this link for a better understanding.

Maniacs dancing

Back to club Rio our casinos own club........... ordinary by comparison to the other clubs we had hit in Vegas. Game Over.

Woke up feeling pretty ordinary, think it will take a few days/weeks to recover from this weekend. My ticket was for the following day but I had to get out of Vegas. I had given it my best and it was time to leave. I cruised into the airport with Rob and Samir and placed myself on standby, and at no charge I was out of there in little over an hour.

Vegas is a town which can only be done in excess to truly appreciate. It was definitely an advantage to have a guide and Rob was awesome. He puts the Party and Animal in Party Animal. Thanks Rob, Catch you in Melbourne.

At the end of the day, the best way to sum up the excess and messiness I experienced in my weekend in Vegas is with Photos.
