Sandu again

Yeah...came back to Sandu because another wave of the Shui festival...the Duanjie...is about to happen again. The Duanjie is kind of newyear celebration for the Shui people, as they had been spread over an vast area since their ancester migrated here from the east, to be able to see and visit each other for newyear, their ancester decided in within 2 months time spin, each area pick a date for their newyear, so relatives could go visit the others for festival. anyways...it mostly families thing...heavely drink and eat! I was only interest to see the horse racing that was a must in Duanjie. a track had been prepared by the hillside about 300m long. villagers came with their favour horse aiming for the highest prize...the 2800 yuan! since there was couple of villages nearby had Duanjie and horse racing on the same day, so only about 20 racers in this Shuilong village race. well...not anything like the profession game. village horse are not trained. most of the time it need bystander to help activated the horse by howling. something different from what I'd expected but... fun! there were others games in the nearby pool for catching goose at the same time as well. I also visited the nearby market in Zhonghe, of couse...totally Shui! there are many vendors for costume materials, embrodery pattern mould, cotton clothes and shoes. And the hike to the natural bridge was delightful by tracing the hillside of the pretty valley. this bridge are even better than the one I saw in Fuquan last week, same...clear crystal water run through underneath, created a great swimming pool, even with a natural high jump stand. a great hide out in summer time. I also went to Dayu market where many Miao could be seen in different subgroup.
