Why do people in other languages talk so loud?

Hi friends and family,

We are still in Salzburg. We woke up early and apparently we are not supposed to talk to people who are staying the in the same room as you. We "met" the other two girls who are bunking with us this morning and they are not too friendly. We spent an hour in the room with them getting ready, walking around etc... and they refused to acknowledge our presence. Anyways, it was wierd. Like we were ghosts or something. We thought they were mad at us for staying in "their" room.

It wasn´t raining this morning, praise the Lord, so we booked another night and rented bicycles and spent the morning and the early part of the afternoon exploring Salzburg and area. We even rode out to Hellbrunn Schloss, where we briefly stopped yesterday while on our tour. It was so fun. Have we mentioned before how beautiful Austria is?

This afternoon we went to see a concert in a building attached to Mirabelle Gardens. We were a bit disappointed in the concert because the flyer said that they would be playing Chopin, but instead they, the violinist and pianist, played nearly all Mozart. You can´t escape Mozart in this place. My friend Erin told me to pretend that we didn´t know who Mozart was so we were walking around saying: "Mozart, who´s that? Didn´t he win a Grammy last year? Wasn´t he the guy who performed with Janet Jackson at the Super Bowl?"

They did play a Brahms piece that Lindsey really enjoyed. (Monica, you are a way better than the girl who was performing.) We are determined to see at least one really good classical concert in Vienna where we are heading tomorrow. Oh and Lindsey just said that we will also dress up and not look like we have been out in the rain all day... which we were.

We are mailing our suitcases home in Vienna. We thought you´d like to know that.

After the concert we walked over the river to the older part of Salzburg which has a medieval fortress. Many of the buildings are built in the mountains. It´s amazing. We stopped at our favourite place H&M, one of the best cheap clothing stores in Europe, and I bought a purse for $15 Euro. We are both so cheap here, because we don´t have a lot of money to last us. We shared a lunch today for $4 Euro combined and had a full-course dinner for $10 Euro tonight. We ran into a couple we met yesterday on The Sound of Music tour and chatted with them for a while and had a great time.

This is turning into a pretty boring e-mail. It´s kinda an early night for us, but we started out really early.

Love,

L & D
