Lindsey at the Hofbräuhaus
For the record... we shared one. We left off telling you about our glorious train ride from Paris to Münich. Aside from the complete privacy, comfort and space, we even had the opportunity to sit in the restaurant and share breakfast at the same time, for the waiter would not allow us to eat one after the other, which we were planning on doing because of our luggage. I (Diana) sat down to order for both of us and explained the situation. He immediately went to ask for permission to lock our room, which we were not even supposed to be in, and then insisted on going to get Lindsey so we could dine together.
This was Part Two of what we will forever refer to as "Friday: The Day of Kindness."
During the seven hour train ride, we fell asleep and were woken up by someone that looked like they were an extra in The Sound of Music. Around the same time the train conducter announced that his name was Klaus. We had a good laugh on how accurate the cliches are about Europe, especially Germany, well Münich anyways.
We found our hostel easily, we opted for a cab ride because we are
all metro-ed out. It was a bit of an annoyance checking in because our hostel was flooded with High School students...
Our room is for six people, but there was only one other person in there, whom we discovered when we got back late last night. He was super quiet and was gone before we woke up this morning. So no complaints. The room is like a castle compared to Paris and we have our own beds which is a nice change. We both slept really well last night and as a result woke up a bit later than we had planned. We ended up missing the tour, but decided to get to Neuschwanstein on our own instead. After our last e-mail today we headed to the castle which was really amazing. The castles, there are actually two famous castles in the area, and all of the town of Füssen looks like a fairytale, or, if you will.... Shrek.
Remember how we were praising how kind and warm Parisians are? Well the people in Münich, not so much... and this is coming from a girl whose last name is Stabel and whose family bloodline is purely German.
I hate to say it, but they are very conservative, rude, cold people. Perhaps this is unfair to say, but the majority of people we have spoken to have to remove whatever it is they have up their asses. Today at the castle, I went up to the front of the bus line to ask a few Australian girls when the next bus was leaving. After chatting with them for two minutes the German lady next to them in line poked me on the shoulder repeatedly, pointed to the back of the line, and told me to go there. I wanted to stick the tip of my umbrella in her eye. I refrained, because I´m a lady. I simply told her with a cold tone "Ich weiss" which is "I know" in German.
I´d just like to mention that right now the guy working the internet cafe is trying to look up my skirt. Classy. Last night at the Hofbrauhaus a Klaus-looking German complimented me on my "mini-skirt" that is actually a dress that goes below my knees. I tried to tell him this in German, but unfortunately I did not succeed in communicating my rebuttal.
The Hofbrauhaus was really fun. Lindsey and I shared one big beer, which was bigger than our heads. See mom and dad? I´m not an alcoholic. I only got one beer at the Hobrauhaus and I even shared it. And Steve... you would have been proud of Lindsey... she is becoming a true European. She´s tougher than you think. And Mr. and Mrs. Nagy... Lindsey is being very smart, wise and safe.
My mom was quite alarmed at my comment in our first e-mail regarding me finding a French or Irish husband. Don´t worry mom, I´m mostly kidding... I´m saving that for my next trip to Europe.
We have been walking like crazy. You would be so proud of us. Today we opted to walk up the mountain rather than take a bus or a carriage ride. The benefit is that we will soon be able to make our own "Buns of Steel" video series, the downside is that we now smell like horse poop, because it was raining all day and the poop from the horses sunk into our feet. What a glamourous day.
All in all, other than the rude Germans, today was really fun and the scenery in Füssen was breathtaking. The rain felt great (we had umbrellas). It is a nice change from the hot, hot humidity we experienced in Paris. We have actually been missing Paris a bit. Since we are flying back home from Paris we were talking about maybe spending a few more days in Paris before heading home in early September.
We went out to eat at a really cute restaurant near where we are staying. It´s in an old hotel. It was one of the better meals we´ve had in Europe for sure! And it was really inexpensive. The food in Münich and Füssen has been exceptional. Everything is at least half the price of what food and drinks (water especially) cost in France.
The same man who was trying to look up my skirt a minute ago is now in the computer in front of us looking at porn. Not just any porn, but dirty lesbo porn. Wilkommen zu Deutschland!!! Lindsey is laughing so hard right now that a little bit of pee just came out. The lovely Germans in front of us keep looking at us like we´re wierd. Right, well we aren´t the ones looking at porno.
The man just came to look at what we were laughing at, so I had to scroll up. He doesn´t speak English anyways, but yah I think it´s time to leave here.
Don´t worry parents and Steve, we are tough... well perhaps more importantly, we have big fat sense of humours.
We decided to stay in Müunich for one more day, before heading to Vienna, because we are going to Salzburg for a day trip tomorrow. For those of who don´t know where that is, watch The Sound of Music. It'll change your life.
Well we would love to chat more, but we are sick of the dirty German men here. We are off to go grab some gelato!
Lots of love,
Diana and Lindsey

Did you go to the Disneyland based castle yet?
I did. It's old news for me. That's ok, though. I'll act interested. My article came out in Ed today and not only was my picture on the front page of Ed, but it was in the front page of the journal as well.. Albeit, in the top right corner.. but hey, still pretty good, right? I was pretty excited, needless to say. It's been a big day for me and that's why I'm discussing that and not your crazy awesome europe trip.. please forgive me. I hope all is well. Keep on truckin', my dear friend. Hey Lindsey. I hope you're having fun, too! keep safe, the both of yuz.
