I've always wanted to travel to Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore to check out the night markets and eat at all the street food stalls that these countries are known for. Finally decided that it's time to put my money where my mouth is (is that the saying??) and do it. I started planning this trip in February this year 2013, my year, the year of the snake. It was going to be a big trip, three big weeks, and three countries. I was going to do four since traveling to within Asia was so cheap but decided to not cram so much in esp. since there was a possibility that my mom was going to join us. Unlike previous international trips where we had an objective (wedding, visiting relatives, family trip...) We're just going to eat and explorer this time all on our own.
About a month an a half before our trip commences my position at work gets eliminated! Bummer. It's weird not going into work when day after day for around 8.5 years I've come into the same place to work and do the daily grind. Other than leaving behind all my lovely friends from work, I have more time to plan out my trip now. I agree with one of my friends, it's almost like a divorce or separation from a loved one and you do have to go through all the stages of grieving. I'm sad but it's just a new routine I need to pick up and I'm not the first person to be laid off so I'll live! I've made some very good friendships and connections and through the wonderful world of technology (LinkedIn and Facebook) we'll still stay in touch!
So with that, I'm very excited to break out of the old routine, reflect, explore, and figure out what's in store for me!
Stay tuned!
