Looking east down Exchange. Great stores, restaurants and, of course, bars!
What a great overnight trip!!

You get to ride the train and spend time in a culturally-rich area the we usually tend to overlook.

Ft. Worth is just down the road to our south. The Chisolm Trail came right through what is now downtown Ft. Worth, and of course, the Stockyards area.

Fron the train station, we boarded a city bus for a short fifteen minute ride through downtown to Stockyards. The bus dropped us only two blocks from our hotel, the Hyatt Place just across from the historic coliseum. After checking in, we headed down the street to Riscky's BBQ for lunch. Great ribs, slaw and potato salad for $10.

Our next adventure was attending a historic re-enactment of Pawnee Bill's Wild West Show. While Pawnee Bill's original show had three separate performing troups with over 130 performers, this amazing little show had only six cowboys, one cowgirl, and one cowpoke singer. When I say amazing, I am being somewhat kind. The star of the show was a young cowboy who was 6' 6" tall. He was a marksman, horseman and a very impressive roper. He also could handle a bull whip with great skill! His

wife was also part of the show, and in actuality, they really were the center of the show. The rest of the performers were just cowboys who kept the cows "corralled in one area of the arena". Still, all in all, it was worth the price of admission.

The rest of the afternoon was dedicated to scouring the numerous cowboy stores. One afternoon was not nearly enough, so we will definitely head back out this afternoon to make sure we did not miss anything of interest, or of course, any bargains!

For dinner, we chose a Mexican restaurant, Hablano's, also in Cowtown. We ate lite, having guacamole and quesadillas. Very good food, and just down the street.

Today, we will head back out to finish our exploration of this great area!! The weather is great with a high today of 76!!!!! Our return train departs at 5:25 this afternoon and arrives back in good old OKC around 9:30.

Happy Trails!!!!!!
