Port Douglas Nature Adventure Part 1

There's a bunch of reasons to come to Port Douglas in far north Queensland. There are two wWorld heritage listed reserves at Port douglas, the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rain Forest. Then there's the great food! Oh, the people are really friendly and very helpful as a bonus.

In our case we headed north for the full eclipse of the sun on next Wednesday, so what can we do for a week? We opted for more walk, less fabulous food and have been excited everyday with what we have found.

We have visited Mossman Gorge, The Habitat Sanctuary, Sky Rail and the Kuranda Butterfly Sanctuary.

Now, if you are pregnant, I'm sorry to say that delivery of your baby will surely be delayed a few weeks as Mrs Black Stork has 3 week old twins of her own keeping her grounded for the moment. Never mind, Mrs Stork is enthralled with her babies and is sure you will be also when the family delivery service gets back to full strength. She is particulalry proud of her twins as they are the only black stork babies ever born in a sanctuary. (Its confusing - the babies are white!)

Before being granted the interview with Mrs Stork we had 'Breakfast with the Birds' at Habitat, and they chatted to us while we over indulged in a yummy cooked breakfast. A wise old Black Cockatoo was gracious enough to sit on Marg's hand even though she had just eaten some poor birds egg! Cocky was complimentary on the choice of eating lotza bacon as the wild pigs were wrecking his home teritory. Good onya Marg!

Hi, I'm Mrs Black Stork
So sorry for the delivery delays at the moment. Hubby is working double shifts while I'm on maternity leave.

These two keep me very busy. They eat their own body weight in food every day - the bigger they get, the more they want!

Looking good
Loved the photos and commentary. It seems you are having a ball goodonya! 30 mils of rain all told so that has done something for the lawns gardens and tanks. Mr Dell is on win 8 now and today will see the transfer of all my files from the old computer. Lots to learn but I have the time. Keep having fun. Love from US2@RW
