Edit Blog Post

It is now four months since I have left the Camino.....

I have been on a 12 day Greek Island cruise .........have got a new granddaughter.........and returned back to work....

When I finished the Camino we still had the cruise to go on which was pretty exciting and was very much looking forward to it

What a contrast....36 days of walking with a 10kg back pack on walking on average 20k's a day ... sleeping with a mixed group of people in a different bed every night in a hot stuffy room most nights....eating bread and cheese and yoghurt on park benches.....walking in rain... wind ...climbing every day ..........

To the luxury of a cruise...beds made every day (by a male) towels hung up in the bathroom.....A hugh variety of food laid out for us to eat all day every day... our room with a balcony watching the sea go by ........being transported to a different place every day and entertained with a variety of shows....

The Camino was a journey ........the Cruise was a holiday

I don't think that I will realise if the Camino has changed me in any way until I get back home.....

My first 2 weeks at home were very depressing.....I didn't want to return to my old way of life.......I have always spent a lot of time in my own company but I have just spent 9 weeks with Jacqui every day and night ........ I was missing her.......I have had people around me 24/7....something I had to adjust to when I started and now have to adjust back to....I have managed to do so....

I have also adjusted back to the old way of life.....sort off.....I have no choice....the bills are there family and friends are around and life goes on ........

What has changed in me ........I don’t think I can say any great thing ........ I do know that we don’t really need a lot in life to be happy and people are more important than material things ..... then again I knew that any way....may be they are just little every day things .....

I have enjoyed writing my blog I hope the people who have been reading it have enjoyed it as well.....

I will be starting the cruise for who ever wants to follow.......

Not a day goes by that I don’t think of the Camino.......not a day goes by that I don’t long to be back there......

There is something about the simplicity of life....walking every day out side...

I know there is another Camino inside me to be walked.......

Well done, I have enoyed reading of your journey with your work mate. It is something that I will never able to do. Allen is working in Eygpt working with the Army as an Observer. He has two weeks leave and met his fiancee in Italy. They "did" Rome and Pompeii and then went to Venice were they were married on September 7th. Keep up the good work . Love Mary xx

I have enjoyed reading all your blogs...
and your pictures are fantastic...they give me a better sense of the journey. I can't believe that you didn't have any issues with your feet as every other blog written by pilgrims has mentioned the blisters. I would love to walk the Camino in the near future, but am afraid I won't be able to do it physically...I'm 64 and broke my ankle last year...doesn't hurt now but not sure if walking 800 km would affect it. I would love to hear about your cruise...so please blog even though it's been a couple of years.
